(x-posted from my tumblr)
Just got the green light to post my submission for Lilies Vol. 3: Golden Lily! This volume has all silent comics, meaning no dialogue, sound effects, or writing of any kind. That meant that the entire story had to be told through acting, which was quite the challenge!
The inspiration for this story actually came from an anecdote I had read in Franklin Covey’s “The Seven Habits of Highly Successful Teens”, the youth’s version of his more famous self help book. I got it back in the early 2000s as a teenager. It was in a section explaining about paradigms, and how your perception of a situation can shift depending on how much info you have. I wish I knew who wrote the original anecdote, as its popped up in my reading since.
If you liked this story, consider purchasing a copy! You’ll get 200 pages of art and comics by 23 artists. The PDF is a real bargain at $2 and the previous volumes, with themes of stargazing (vol 2) and water (vol 1), are free to download and donation-optional. Hard copies are available at Lulu Printing as well.
Don’t forget Lilies is currently accepting short comics for their upcoming Volume 4- theme is “spooky”. Ooo! Follow them here for more info.
Jk, I know it's just for the story. Very well done.
