Nobody in Annecy

Location  Annecy, France

Annecy, France

The Venice of the Alps

An exceptional situation.
With the temporary lifting of the lockdown the restaurants and bars remain closed and the tourists are still far away.

Looks a lovely place - tourists; a pain but they pay and keep businesses going....

organicvision's avatar
Oh yeah and sometimes I am one of them with a camera around my neck 📷even if I don't feel like one 😎

From a photographer's point of view now you get shots of empty streets, which otherwise would not be possible.

Thanks. It was a strange situation and the first time we could go so far. I hope we can continue to get out.

Let's hope so!! :) Anyway the photo is absolutely wonderful and a little eerie.

Deciding on their own to stay closed ? I guess why bother if no one comes...:(

The restaurants and bars are not allowed to open yet.

This town depends a lot on tourism and normally the streets are full of Christmas shoppers who come by coach from Switzerland and Italy and beyond.

Annecy is 30 minutes from Geneva.

I had no problem finding a parking place today.

Thanks for that Jeff.

Will they be allowed to open over Christmas for the local people ? And will they be used ??

organicvision's avatar

There are no plans for that yet. Some are open for take away only.

I bought a quiche in a bakery with a paper cup of hot wine.

I saw 2 or 3 that were definitely closed.

And what about the Christmas holidays ?

We are opening up here for five days, I fear it will be a disaster.

Boris is "asking" people to keep celebrations small, but I don't see it happening.. :(
