I often hear them but they are hard to see. In this case there was a snake just below in the reeds and the bird was in a panic.

Do you have also a photo from the snake? I suspect a Grass Snake (Natrix natrix) or a Barred Grass snake (Natrix helveticus) because they are excellent swimmers.

No, I only got a glimpse of the snake but I think you're right. I saw that warblers make their nests close to the ground and this one was terrified.
