About me and how I became an artist:

As a long time craftsman I never really was into art stuff until I met a very special person from Ukraine. In the beginning this guy was pretty mean to me, he called me мужик (muzhik=peasant) and other nasty names, but as we got to know eachother better, we became close friends. We did construction projects, had countless hangovers and went through a lot of shit together. As time went by, he infected me with his passion for digital art, taught me some graphics basics and gave me some of his equipment. When he suddenly died during our first art project back in 2014, it took me almost two years to even look at art again let alone making art. He was such a wonderful workmate, artist, teacher, mentor, friend, brother... I still miss him so much each day. After all it was his family who helped me to overcome this heavy artblock.

In 2016, I came across a tech magazine article about Adobe making Photoshop CS2 available for free. This pretty obsolete piece of software was a gamechanger despite its age. Six months later I got CS6 which I´ve been using since then. I started making photomanipulations, but PS turned out to be much more than just an editing program for pictures.

In spring 2019 I had to join DA, occasional lurking wasn´t sufficient anymore. DeviantArt is a good place to find new inspiration and useful learning resources, not to mention all the different art stuff waiting to be discovered. Last but not least there are many interesting people here from all over the world.

In November 2020, right on my 42nd birthday, my daughter Alena joined the community. She´s the greatest gift I ever got in my life. I´m so thankful for having her here just two mouseclicks away. We live quite far apart plus the neverending COVID disaster makes it impossible to visit one another. The pandemic also brought me back to digital painting and made me aware of the biggest mistake I´ve made in the past, which was to leave Elizaveta, the love of my life, my ukrainian queen, mother of our babygirl princess. Luckily at new years eve of 2021 we´ve finally managed to straighten things out.
