Tip 8: Timing Matters
When you post matters!
In my experience, your work has natural exposure for the first forty eight hours before new work is prioritised ahead of it. Timing your posts when your audience is online and active is the best way to make the most of your natural exposure.
If you’re posting at 3am on a Wednesday morning, are your users really going to be there? Play around a little and find out which time slot gets the most engagement.
Announcing: Subscriptions!
Hey folks!
Next week I'll be launching a set of subscription tiers here on DeviantArt. I did this before on Patreon and then closed it as I was covering all my costs through sales here. That was about 2 years ago now and I'm finding myself getting tight once more as costs keep going up and up and up, so I'm going to try doing some subscriptions here on DeviantArt as it folds in nicely with where I'm posting.
First off, I want to say that free content will remain free. I've been tossing around different ideas for a while now, including reopening the suggested comics on Patreon or raising prices on the paid comics, but I don't think either of those are particularly great options. One eats up a lot of time and potentially eats into free content. The other prices people out of comics when I know things are already getting tight for a lot of people. I know, because I feel that myself.
I've kept my paid comics priced at roughly $1=10 pages pages for a decade now and I'd like to keep it

Hey folks!
Happy 2026 to all! I hope 2025 was kind to you and that 2026 will be even kinder. I figured given the new year I'd post a journal to go over the current state of play. A lot of folks have asked for it, so here it is!
I'll start with the free comics.
Big Apple
I think this is now my longest running free comic and well into its stride. It's funny saying that as for years it was a concept I struggled to nail down both in terms of story and technical requirements. And now here we are fast approaching a thousand pages. I'm pretty sure this one won't be ending in 2026, so don't worry!
The Other Shelf
Not long left to go for this one! It's actually run a little longer than the original On The Shelf, though we're into the epilogues now. I expect to do two more chapters and then this one will be all wrapped up. While I'm sad to see it go, it does clear a space for something new! I'll make an announcement on that in due time! Summer 2025 Update
Hey folks!
It's been about 7 months since I did one of these updates so I thought it would be a good time for another one since I'm about to hit another period of change. It had a bit of a chuckle reviewing the last one as not a lot has changed in terms of content, but it's about to. So, let's kick off.
Big News!
First of all, huge thanks to all those who bought the final issue of One Year Deal. It's been a roaring success beyond my expectations. I can only keep doing this thing because you all support me, and I am incredibly grateful for it. Especially since in November I will be gaining yet another child. I'll be working hard in the run up to their arrival to pump out a whole load of stuff, but will likely calm down for a few months afterwards.
So, with that said, what is the state of things?

2024: End of Year Update

It's been a while since I've done one of these so I thought I'd sit down and hammer out the state of things. I usually provide a running update on my Discord server, but there's a lot more people out there than there are in the . So, let's dive into it!
Big Apple
It's hard to believe this is now my longest running active story. For so long it was just a nebulous concept simmering away in my head, but we're well into the thick of it now. I've been running into difficulties as Nicola's gotten bigger and bigger with needing more city assets. I need detailed, convincing looking buildings but it's easier said than done. I've been buying them up but it's a lot of work and I keep hitting walls. I'm aiming to have the next update out Friday, but if I keep hitting walls I may pause it while build up some space to work out a fix.
