So with Small Gestures set to render its final renders for this chapter tonight and Be Mine well into its final stages I decided to take a time out and do a little world building for The Goddess Beyond the Glass. It and The Big Date are the top contenders for my next story so I wanted to flesh this one out a bit more.
The first thing I've done is to change the scale. Previously the denizens of the terrarium were around 8-10mm tall. This has been revised down to around 3mm tall. This is mostly due to the number of inhabitants of the terrarium. There'll be a community of 30 tinies in there and I felt the terrarium was too small for them to be self-sustainable. Because that's the idea here. You want to avoid interacting with your gods where possible.
Especially if that god is a fickle woman in her early twenties who seems bent on studying and experimenting on you. She too has been given a redesign as I felt the last one looked a little too mean and her skin wasn't particularly good. Here's our redesigned and as of now, unnamed Goddess Beyond the Glass.
She's about 5ft4 inches tall but to her subjects she'll look around a kilometre tall.
The terrarium itself measure 30 inches by 9.5 inches (76.2cm x 24.1cm) and to its inhabitants will measure 464m x 147m which is around 17 acres. I hope those calculations are right. The shots I'm including are still development shots but hopefully they'll give an idea of what I'm aiming for.
The first shot it from the forest at the top of the hill down towards the village and its wheat field. You can also see the lake at the bottom.
The village itself has everything its residents could need. Homes, a community hall, tool shed and smith. They'll just need to learn how to use it.
And the final shot is from the rock in the lake up towards the village. I think it'll look quite nice once its actually in her room and not just in a test environment.
So what do you think? I'm happy to listen to people's thoughts on what else should be in the village (or if I've given them too much). Have I missed anything?
