wooh i was just kinda sketching absentmindedly and the pose i came up reminded me of an old drawing from early 2016 of a little gentle boy... and i was overcome with the urge to remake it
this is my old friend Frostspeak
's character, puzzle! he's looking at his little lizard friend from their comic "lizard". i'd still recommend reading it, it's still a fun short read even years later haha
i'm really happy with how the motion of my art has changed, it's a lot more dynamic and it looks more alive; my old art was very stiff and rigid, like, just... flat. it didn't look natural. i think the coloring and shading (even though this piece is unshaded) is a lot less muddy too!
i've said this in my past, like, 5 uploads but i've been working on color theory and i think it really shows! the coloring of this piece was actually kind of experimental for me, hence the messy look. i tried to challenge myself to finish this in under two hours (which i succeeded in), clean up the sketch rather than lining as to focus on hue, and color using color theory, without using the fill bucket. it ended up looking really nice imo! i may take commissions in this kind of experimental style.
