When you read my latest journal entries, you know that I found some art thiefs around DA, luckily they
were taken down with your help!
Besides that people claming other peoples unedited photos, I noticed that it happens a lot that
people just use painting filters on photos and say it is a "Digital Painting".
Bad enough they take photos without permission or leaving no credit for the real artist,
I´m asking myself "why are people doing something like that?" Is it just all for quick fame or earning money??
Have these people no artist path they want to go? Learning and improving with every new piece??
If I would commission somebody to paint a photo of my pet, I would be very disappointed if the person just
puts a filter on my photo and "voilà" here is the digital painting for you! Please pay me now!
I´m also wondering, that so many people are still getting tricked by that! "Wow what a great talent you have!"
(clearly photo shines still trough on some areas) "You are such a great artist!"
For me a digital painting is something what starts with a sketch and grows with every stroke you paint,
not just putting a filter on a photo or smear it. Thats what I call "photomanipulation" and not digital painting...
When you notice somthing like, do you comment on the "artwork" or just ignore it?
I mostly comment ( sure, getting mostly blocked without an answer after that) and provide a link
to the original photo.
