He That Holds His Heart

By oO-Rein-Oo

For me, the man is carrying his heart as if he could not handle it inside himself, as if it had become a bourden and got bigger than him. I hope you all dig the concept here and feel free to have your own interpretation of the scene, and I'd be happy to read them.

I was also unsure about this, I had a little trouble deciding if the all black and white version would be better than this one. Please tell me what you think!

This is my first of two images I will come up with for the Valentine's. A bit early I know, but just to get in the mood, even though Valentine's day is just on June 12th in my contry, Brazil.

To me it looks like he blows a ballon in shape of heart. It's silly but that was my first thought when I saw the photo. It's really amazing,I really love it! Bravo!

i love the contrast but im still wondering what it exactly is he is holding is it actully part of him or something else?
other than that it would be really cool if you could bring out more color in the man he seems really faded.

He is holding a heart made of clay I think... Thanks for the constructive criticism!

:( We have a policy about selectively colored images. Fell free to make either BW or color...

But I am going to have decline.

With respect!

PS Nice one though!

Beautiful capture! I actuall like how the background remains black and white, while the man and his heart remain in colour; the man becomes the focal point in the image and the composition is all the more powerful. I love the textures of the clay caked upon the man and his heart, and the interpretations of this man as a potter. I like to think that he crafted that heart to show people how to love.

Wow! Thanks so much for the constructive criticism! I'm glad you like it. I was a bit unsure at the beginning abt the selective coloring but I think it turned out pretty OK for the message I was willing to transmit :)

I like your interpretation- I feel as though he's showing this heart to all those walking by- have a little heart, a little love, a little human warmth, for me, please.

I like your choice of colours, and I understand the dilemma! Has often happened to me. Where was this taken?

I like it as is, with him in color & the rest in black & white. Makes him stand out, because, it's like...everyone else is moving, and the world around him is cold stone, but there he is, all earthy-toned, warm, and full of love :) Becuase, see, he reminds me of a potter, the way whatever's coating his is caked, and of course, the color, and that's like, some piece of beautiful pottery he's just finished, wel, it's a vessel anyway, it's a heart. And he's proud of it, not because of how it turned out, but because he put all his energy into making it, so it's like his own child...sitting on his lap there.

Okay, I just kinda typed whatever came to me, so it ended up being more than one thing I guess :giggle: But hey, that'sgood! It made me think.

That's exactly my point, everyone passing by and he standing still in the middle of everything. It is great thinking that he has put all his energy to make it, I loved your interpretation!

Thanks so much, and I'm glad that I could make you think with this piece!

to me he seems to be embracing his heart, leaning in close as he cherishes it. it makes me feel like he cherishes the feelings he can give to others. He takes pride in the ways he can care for his fellow men, and wouldn't do anything else in the world.

oh, you don't know. I get a rush of endorphines everytime I'm asked to interpret an expression. :)
