Disclaimer: No one is forcing you to read this. I am not trying to force my beliefs on you. If you do not agree with something please do not comment on this, you can just note me. "And for all you out there who are now agnostic, or atheist, or some other religion, because some Christian insulted your personal beliefs, or shove God down your throat, Let me personally be the first to apologize."2.

God is such a complex and amazing person. God exists as three in one, God the father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. "It's like a clover, it has three distinct leaves, but it's the same clover, nonetheless." 1. So when you know you want to know the God of all our lives, you have to come to know Jesus the Son. John 14 verse 6 says "I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me." What He means when He says that, is that if you want to know what your purpose here in life is, and you want to pursue it, you must pursue Him. So to learn of Him, and His "way", and of the "truth", we read the Bible. The Bible teaches us a lot about Him, why we (should) love Him and why He loves us. So I would like to give you some information on the characteristics of God.

God is loving:
No doubt. And most people will agree. Or at least they will agree that is what they constantly hear. But they ask "why does the Lord allow these bad things to happen?". The Lord gives you trials, he wants to talk to Him about these problems, acknowledge He is here and alive. He wants you to trust him and have a relationship with him. He loves us, so He gave us the Bible to tell of His Word, and Jesus to die for our sins.

God is righteous and He has wrath:
Because the Lord is right, He has the right to be sore at you, to be saddened by your sin. If you had a teen child living in your house and you told them to be home at midnight and no funny business and s/he came home at 2 drunk… You would be quite mad at them for disobeying you right?; you would probably ground them to their rooms for 2 months. It works like that, God gives us instruction for our own good, yet we disobey and don't turn away from our sin, He is like a father who has to punish His child. "But how could we NOT expect a punishment if we didn't do what we were told? Wouldn't that make our parent's irresponsible? OF COURSE there would be problems in the house if we ALL weren't expected to take responsibility for our actions. Now take a look at the world around you, and tell me it's God's fault there is suffering in the world because "He's not loving", and not because we won't stand up and take responsibility for our OWN actions."1. But he gives you the chance to be obedient again here on earth. He gives us the second chance to repent and turn back to Him. But if we don't come back to Him, if we keep sinning and tell ourselves that no-matter what He will forgive us, and as long as we ask forgiveness later, we will make it into heaven. God doesn't want you to think like that, He wants you to be sooo thankful for His grace and mercy that you will stop sinning (as best you can) and when you do sin ask forgiveness, and obey Him and live your life for Him, because God wants you to be a good example and tell others of Him and His grace.

He is worthy:
God is worthy of your worship and praise. He is perfect in every way. He controls the universe, even down to the very germ on your hand (and even down to whatever makes up that germ). He is the one who gives us the very air we breathe. He is the one who allows us to take our next breath. He is the one who painted the sunset last night and the sunrise this morning. He painted it for you because He wants to remind you that he is there, He loves you and wants you to talk to Him and to praise Him.

God is a Jealous God:
Think about it. Only one God. Everyone is running about devoting their lives to something stupid: a cartoon, sports, becoming popular, internet social life, porn, drugs, alcohol, ect… And God must be thinking, "Wow! They wake up every morning and I give them life and breath and a sunrise in the morning to remind them I'm here, and they still run around looking for something better to satisfy that craving for the meaning of life." Don't wake up and forget to give God the praise, worship, and devotion that He deserves.

He is proud:
God is the only one who has the right to be proud. He created everything, including us. He tells us "For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast."- Ephesians 2:8-9 The only thing we have right to brag about is God. And he wants you to, He wants you to go out into the city streets and tell as many people as you can about our wonderful God.

He is merciful, forgiving, and graceful (meaning full of grace):
Because He made you, He loves you. And because He loves you He wants to give us a second chance. We lost our chance when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. Satan tempted them with the very thing they were told not to do: eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge. If they had eaten of the Tree of Life before they ate of the Tree of Knowledge, they would be immortal, doomed to an eternity parted from God because of sin. But God wanted us to have a chance to be with Him and not be separated from Him by sin forever.
So God chose a woman who lived righteously in His eyes and gave her a son through the Holy Spirit. She was a virgin, and people couldn't believe that she was with child and still claimed to be a virgin. God told her husband to-be in a dream that she was as a matter-of-fact was still a virgin and there was no shame in taking her to be his wife. So a child was born, and they named Him "Jesus" meaning "he saves". Because He came to save us from our sin His title is Christ. He was also called "Immanuel" which means "God with us", that also confirms that He is God in the flesh.
God sent Jesus to the world to save us from the burden of sin which became our nature after Adam and Eve sinned. Jesus gathered people to tell of God, and how He would want us to act, these where His teaching years. Then the time came for Him to do what He came here to do. Some people hated Him for upstaging them (teaching better than they did in the Pharisees cases), for causing trouble in the temples where people offered sacrifices (Mark 11:12), and other things. So they plotted to get rid of Him, and because of our sinful human nature Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, and Jesus was lead away to be bludgeoned and killed in a public place of the city. Where thieves, murderers, and such, were humiliated and killed for the whole city so see, for them to point at and say "Look children! That's where you'll end up if you're not good."
God let His own Son DIE on the cross so that you would be allowed to accept this truth and ask Him for your forgiveness, to be saved from the Damnation that awaits and comes with the nature of sinfulness. God cannot accept what is not Holy, we are sinners, and because of that, we are not Holy. God cannot have something or someone who is not Holy in Heaven. So he created a place for the things that are unholy, a place away from Him. Hell is not only a place where there is moaning and gnashing of teeth, the worst part about it is being separated from God forever. There is nothing bad in Heaven, no evil, no tears, only the good that God has provided for His children. God loves you. He loves you enough to be merciful to you and give you the chance to know Him and have life, eternal life with Him, He who is perfect, in the most amazing and beautiful place that isn't even imaginable here on earth. No human can comprehend the amazing life that's in store for us. Philippians 1:21 says "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

He is mighty:
He uses the earth as His footstool. He commands the sea to roar. His voice is like the thunder of the sky. With a lift of His finger He can move mountains. He can give and take away life.
He is God. Maker of: the universe, the heavens and the stars, the earth, the waters of the shallow and deep and all in between, the mountains to the molehills, all the way into the earth's crust, He made all of it, and He just wants you to recognize it.

He is caring:
God cares about you. He cares about what you eat and drink and say and do. He doesn't want them to contradict. He wants you not to be hypocritical by saying "I'm Christian" one minute, then turning around and cussing someone out the next. It's like baking soda and vinegar, they don't settle well together. (See Matthew 15:11-20) The way you act, effects the way you feel. He isn't a "feel good" god who wants you only to be happy, but He cares how you feel, He wants you to bring your troubles to Him, to lay your burden upon Him.

He is persistent:
Evil is against his will, He wills for us all that is good. When we disobeyed him evil came into this world, He did not create evil, we did… in a way. So He makes the good things in our lives to remind us He cares. The sunsets, the children, the waves, the blossoms of spring, they are all His doing, to remind us of Him. Sometimes He allows bad things to happen, to get our attention, He wants us to have Him at the center of our lives. He wants us to remember Him, that He is there and that He will be there for you no matter what.

He is giving:
Giving is a hard one… He is giving to people in different ways. For some it's blessing them with possessions. For others it's making sure they have what the Need. And for others, it's giving them spiritual strength to go on through the day, against the world. If you devote your life to God here, no matter what happens on this earth, He will bless you hundreds of times over in the end for serving Him.

He is just:
If/when someone does you wrong, you want revenge, God has told us in the Bible to control our anger, do not hate, if there is need for avengement, He will be the one to take that revenge for you. It will be soo much better for Him to be the judge than for one of us to be. If your friend sins against you, you will want revenge, God might be in line with that revenge, or He might have other plans. This is where you need to trust God to do the right thing for everyone. And maybe, even if she asks for forgiveness with sincerity, you want to still take revenge, you need to let God be the one to handle it. Because He might let her car broke down on the day of an important meeting (which to you would be the revenge part, but He might have something different in mind) so she can get her priorities straight with the Lord, or he might simply let her go and say "I love you and I forgive you." But no-matter what, God will use it for His glory somehow, maybe in a small way that will only effect one child's life, or maybe in a big way that will affect more than a hundred lives. He is just, and you can trust Him with that.

He is strong:
God is someone you can depend on no-matter what. If you are going through a hard time, He can help you through it, with the understanding and joy that comes along with it. Now sometimes when you pray, you feel like your prayers are bouncing of the sky, but He will always answer His children's prayers, but only if you are willing to give your live over to him.

He answers one of three things:
With a "Yes", in not always the way you expect it or maybe even want it, but sometimes that's His will.
With a "No", sometimes your will is not the will of God. It may be as simple as "Can I please get the new Laddy MaMa CD?!" or as complex as "Please, cure my mom of lung cancer." There are a few things that might lead to a "no". First you have to identify, "what is really important in my life", then ask "Is this what I think the Bible would say is worthy of praying for?"
A. Praying for someone's salvation, for someone to be healed, for you to find a new job- these are good things to pray for.
B. Praying for you to have enough money to buy that hot new top and CD for this summer's pool party, for you to get back with your ex who is the most popular guy in class, for you to get a new iPod before school starts- these are not the best things to pray for. These things are selfish and not glorifying to God.
If you are praying for something good according to God,
And He might answer it with "Wait", yes, sometimes God just wants you to wait, He knows the right time to answer you with that yes He knows you've been waiting for.

He does want you to come to Him in prayer, He wants you to come to Him with the big and the small things going on in your life, He wants you to give your problems and praises over to Him. And if you're His child He will be your strength when you are weak.

He is consistent:
The Lord does not change his mind. He is all knowing, He knows what is true, He made truth. Because He made this universe, He made gravity, just because you say gravity doesn't exist doesn't mean it will change the fact. He made the air we breathe and allows it to move over the earth through wind, just because you don't see the air or wind doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You can't see gravity or wind, but you can see the effect that it makes in the world. If you drop an apple, you will see it fall, evidence that gravity exists. You cannot see the wind, but when you look up in the trees on a windy day you can see the leaves and branches moving, the trunk swaying, evidence that the wind is there.
God does not change His mind. He is all knowing, all powerful and He never changes the rule for anybody. So even if you are a celebrity, He won't just excuse you if you cuss, onscreen or off. God is not someone you can lead around by your will like a puppy dog, He is the leader and you should be the follower. I do not want a god I can lead around, he would be weak, I want a god who is my leader, who lets me know He's in control. And trying to make Him out to be a weak god is Wrong. We should let everyone know who He is.
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." ~ Psalm 46:10
"It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'" ~ Romans 14:11

He is patient:
If you are Christian, this will be aimed at you. God will wait for you, your families, and your friends to come to know Him. He will work in their lives through you, their friends, and their families, to introduce them into their lives. But He wants you to share the word of God with them, He doesn't want you to wait until they're on their death beds. Now I'm not claiming to know what God wants, that would probably be blasphemous… if you didn't read it in the Bible. But it says in the Bible "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." ~ Matthew 5:14-16 …God wants to work through you to help reach the unsaved. Don't be afraid and don't hide it. 2.

God Bless.
I made this for my journal but decided to also make it a deviation so that people could fave it and find it easy. I know that it sometimes jumps around a little, so sorry about that. I wrote this in three days, which is a little rushed in my opinion. But if you know of any other Bible verses that would work well in backing up any of my points, please let me know. :)

I am not perfect, I do not claim to be. I wrote this because I felt compelled by the Holy Spirit. I pray that I will be able to stay devoted to Him my entire life, and thankfully if I do stray away, I know I can always come back to Him.

No matter what you have done, you can become a Christian. Saul himself was a persecute of Christians, then God worked in his life and Saul became new in Christ and was named Paul. If you want to become a Christian, you can talk to me (I would try to answer your questions as best as I can), or you can talk to someone from this group #christians who would be able to help you out. :)

:star: Here is a link to a good piece of Christian literature on this subject. :) [link]

Let my know if I have made any spelling/grammar mistakes. There are a lot more characteristics I have failed to put up there, but this is a start. I consider myself new to really being a Christian, but if you have any questions I will try to answer them as best I can. :)

I hope this explains some things and I pray this makes a difference for good in your life. :)

:star: Please also check out my other Christian works, so that it may give Glory to the Lord.

God Bless You.
