Daily Deviation

Given 2009-01-16
La ferratura del cavallo by ~OnTheWall almost looks like a painting with its soft and warm tonalities, but what I like the most about it is the form of the steam and how it involves the man. Like the suggester said to me, it makes you feel this scene took place a long time in the pastů ( Suggested by JacquiJax and Featured by Helewidis )

heh, i really did think it was a painting. =p

it would be pointless for me to reiterate while i like this piece. it's all been said in the description of the suggestion and the comments below mine.

Molto, molto bella.

Totally agree with the description of the daily deviation. The color palette is reminiscent of Italian paintings, the composition is awesome and so perfect, it almost look staged, yet super natural! The lightning is superb! Superb photography!

well, you get that it is mainly about the light through the steam  but it is also because photography is mainly about light, and about the difference between light and dark, and this photo shows that difference so strongly.

also, the style reminds us of the beautiful paintings by the "old masters", and the subject of the photo is of a scene that isn't very common any more, so it is something that is from a lost time and a lost world for most of us modern, city living types.

it makes us want to live back in a time when life was simple (at least that is what we think ;p)

i hope this helps. :)

THANK YOU!!

It's so nice to actually hear what an artist was going for, their vision when taking a 'subjective' photo!

I understand what you mean... sometimes it would be nice to live in a simpler time, and now I see that this captures that feeling!

Kudos!

just for anyone that sees this ^^; It isn't dust enveloping the man is it? That man is a farrier and that's steam from the horseshoe he's applying to the horse's hoof...so the person who gave the DD comment was wrong. Still it's a good shot

Lol, I was just about to say that too. Isn't it smoke though? Because the shoe is still warm when it's applied. :D

naw cause it generally makes a sizzling sound. The shoe would be white hot. They take it directly out of the fire onto the hoof see if it fits if not they shape it more but if it fits it goes into cold water. The hoof would be far colder than the metal so it's most likely steam :XD: what ever it is it isn't dust
