The first time I remember watching Ghostbusters I was five or six, and I loved it right from the beginning. Even at that age Egon was my favorite, which on one hand is kind of weird but on the other it was pretty consistent for me. Simon was my favorite among Alvin and the Chipmunks for instance. I guess I've always had a thing for nerds.
I've wanted a Ghostbusters tattoo for years, but the only thing I could think to get was the no ghost symbol and I refused to get a flesh toned ghost. So I gave up. Go me. But not long after Harold Ramis died I was watching the commentary for the original Ghostbusters and they said that he was the only one who really knew how to work the PKE meter. I'd never actually noticed it before, but Egon is the only one who uses it in the first movie. Even in the comics he's the one to use it 90% of the time. So it just clicked. I was going to get a PKE meter tattoo. The banner idea came a little while later, and the mushrooms and mold were the idea of the artist. The end result was a tattoo cover up I am 100% in love with.
I already thanked him in a dA comment, but once again I have to thank DanSchoening
for providing some fantastic reference art. You only really get a good look at the front of the meter once in the movie and it isn't exactly a close up. Luckily there are some really good pictures of it in the comics. I also brought my Matty Collector PKE meter for additional reference, but I had a feeling seeing an artist representation would be helpful. (Which ended up being a good move since the artist was a little iffy on the toy.)
If you read all of that you deserve a cookie, but alas I don't have any. So I'll just give you a little heart instead. It's still healing but I couldn't wait to post a picture.
