Literature Text

“It really was nothing,” I humbly tried to tell him, ducking my gaze in order to avoid eye contact, already feeling my face rising in heat each second that the blush was allowed to surface.  I couldn’t help it; I embarrassed easily.

“No, it was everything,” he stated, his words that contradicted my own drawing my eyes up to his, watching him fix upon me, just before he reached out and gingerly took my hand in his.

I awoke a second later, the tears escaping my eyes as I lied in bed and realized it had all been a dream.

My submission for Day 15 of Flash Fiction Month 2019 hosted by :iconflashfictionmonth:.  Well, spent a lot of time trying to organize a room in the quest to hunt for something.  Found something else I thought I had lost a year ago, but still missing the object in question.  Also found the acorn I had been saving wedged between the desk and the wall, no thanks to the rodents that invade the house, and saved it in a jar now.  But, it left me with little time to write and falling asleep, I tried my hand at writing a drabble, so 100 words here for something that hopefully delivers a bit of a teeny gut punch at the end.  I'm off to sleep now.

Prompt used was the theme prompt: humility.
