Memorandom burns a hallucinogenic substance and floods the room with the smoke to disorient Aria and make her more susceptible to hallucination, and to create illusions that barge into Aria's mind and fight her, to try to wear her down, to try to psychologically torment her and leave her open for a split second for a fatal attack to try to kill her.

But Aria's physically really fast. She had learned how to break her limits and become almost cartoonishly super human. She learned too much, maybe, in her life's journey. She moves faster than Memorandom can create one illusion...so Memorandom creates multiple illusions and also tries to chip away at Aria's psyche.
