I usually write critiques when I have something constructive to add, but here I felt compelled mostly due to the technique. Shooting nature subjects with long exposures defies conveying direct information about the immediate subject matter, but allows creating a special atmosphere that is rare in most images of natural subjects. This image has added interest due to the overall composition - the flower seems to have an obvious head and somewhat less obvious hands - making it appear like a character from Alice in Wonderland - and a wonderful image it is! This image is yet another proof that detail is overrated!
I love the image for the overall composition, the imaginary person within the flower and the high-key softness. Well done!

My pleasure - I love it!

I think that "high-key softness" is the bit that does it for me.

Agree with Yori.

But it would still be just another flower photo - even if a good one. The "hands" make it whimsical!

The waving hands, yes

Well, hello there Olivia.
I have to admit that this is your best deviation by far. It's the perfect mixture of surrealism and simple nature, it gives me this over-whelming feeling. (in a positive way)
Starting with the technique, this is very well executed. The white patterns create some movement, yet the whole flower can still be seen as one. The bright colors give a feeling of simplicity and make it appealing to look at.
Also, this is amazingly original. All the time I've been on this art site, I've never seen something like this. Of course, long exposure shots are quite known. But taking a photo of a moving flower is just completely different from all the other shots around here. It captures the fragility, the beauty and the simplicity of a normal flower/plant in the wind in it's fullest and I am so stunned how you managed to take this.
Besides that, I truly believe it's a big step for your personal development as well. I have no idea if this was edited or not (since you refused to edit a lot before), but either way, this is just "correct" the way it is. Not over- nor undersaturated, not over- or underexposed and it is perfectly sharp.

I am so proud of you. <img src="…" width="20" height="20" alt="" title="Clap"/> Keep it going!

Brilliant title! Because art is more than an image: it is a provocation to thought, appreciation, wonder, and an invitation to a new perspective. I think you achieve all of that with this work. Well done!
