More practicing in anime style.

I gave the grass tutorial 🌿 another try, and this time it came out better. The size of the starting plane made a difference. The tutorial is here: https://youtu.be/F7_btP0Vhzo?feature=shared

For the sky and clouds ☁️ I followed this: https://youtu.be/T03KBghbd4o?feature=shared
The tutorial is using a Musgrave texture, but the node is no more available in Blender 4.2, so look here for a replacement: https://youtu.be/2Z75X_Jg8JQ?feature=shared

For the painted metal material I foolowed this: https://youtu.be/P5hyrq1f7N4?feature=shared which is working with eevee. Another one more comprehensive is this one: https://youtu.be/hAWLqRpzK6I?feature=shared (it explains 3 methods in total, although 2 works in cycles only).

For the hard surface modelling of the cube I used booleans as explained here: https://youtu.be/hN1_qfyBg68?feature=shared

For the spheres I followed my gut feeling 😁

The flickering of the lights I made as explained here (Graph editor > Noise modifier) https://youtu.be/P3GLzWOFYcw?feature=shared

In Blender 4.2 the option "Bloom" is nto present anymore (to make the lights glow), but you can obtain the effect by using the "Glare" node as explained here: https://youtu.be/r9gIICSdK3o?feature=shared

Enjoy!

Critiques are always welcome.

Hi, just popping over from Project Comment!

The speed of the grass in this GIF does seem quite fast, especially with the static clouds. It produces a conflict within the statement of the image. If it flowed more slowly, then the lack of cloud movement could be expected, and the resulting scene’s peacefulness would only have the contrast of the stranded/non-functioning mech. With the way the field of grass moves rapidly, it suggests a high wind and this would be expected to move other things continuing up into the sky. If the high wind was intentional, then the clouds should move across the sky as well and that would make the scene more ominous, and most likely a stronger statement on the end for the mechs with an oncoming storm.

The flickering lights are a nice touch; the amount of time that they stay on and brightness gives an impression of sufficient power but a glitching that interrupts it, leaving the two units in sync as if sharing their interrupted communications, but not able to process through the errors, and silently disturbing the rural countryside that they ended up in with the furthest unit having already shut down/failed, possibly due to the landing itself, or from what led up to it.

Of course, this is just my interpretation of your creation; I could very well be far off from what you intended, so take what you like from it and disregard the rest!
