Photoplay : Norma Talmadge

Some things happen rather quickly. I found a bunch of old Photoplay magazine covers online [ [link] ] and saved them all to my computer yesterday. Today, I got the sudden urge to draw, and chose this image of Norma Talmadge as my reference [ [link] ], and cranked out the above sketch in about an hour.

Being the product of only sixty minutes' work, I am aware it's not perfect, but it's also an experiment. Lately I've been longing to try a cleaner, more "deliberate" style with darker shadows, and brighter highlights.
