Cherry Daiquiri and Beatrice Howlington

A gift art for fellow author extraordinaire ConfusedGoatee_01 featuring a picture of two of his most important characters, Cherry Daiquiri and Beatrice Howlington who... spoilers... get a bit cosy with each other through the course of the series.

Cherry already had a gift artwork of her one ages ago by fellow author and artist Octavian Clef, so I decided I wanted to do one for Bea. -Described only really as a 'grey wolf with black ears and paws... Here's hoping I captured her correctly (or close enough).

The scene idea came from a comment in the fic 'Welcome to Foxburrow', based on a profile pic of the pair on someone's contact list... -Cherry's pink princess pyjamas had not been revealed at that point but were too good not to include.

Overall this took me 12 hours to do... Most of the time spent on the anatomy and fine line, with a bunch on the colouring too. -I had looked into some videos on watercolouring techniques and such before this, and part based on that started out with a more muted colour palate... Before a test upping of the saturation had me rejigging everything in that order. -Admittedly, being a first pic of Bea I wanted her to be in full light, so wasn't able to play fully with dark and shadows... BUT there is another scene featuring Bea from that series where I could do some very good things with light and dark.

As you can probably tell from a lot of my art, light, dark, shadows, colour etc are things that interest me and I really want to improve on. -Funnily enough I started the kind of colour techniques I do to help preserve my linework, which I was very proud of... -Though, looking back at the overall process about half was still the linework. -Amongst things on colour and contrast, one of the things the watercolour tutorials talked about was simplicity... And certainly, maybe learning to do less, faster, looser, simpler linework and colour... More abstracting, is a place for me to focus on in the future. -Alas, abstracting is always a weak point for me. I digress.

It took a lot of effort, things were learnt, and I enjoyed making this.
