Anime Super Girls

This is the cover I did for the book and I sold at Comic Market 82, but it will also be available online to order if anyone unable to go wants to have a copy. It's 24 pages front to back, full color, and features some of our favorite girls of anime (and game, and... and whatever we felt like like, actually). I had planned to also include Macross girls, Sakura Taisen girls, and Rumiko Takahashi characters but I ran out of time thanks to one image taking forever and never quite looking right (Lumpoo, you...). I actually ended up using a few older images to fill the gaps, which maybe worked out all right because one of those shows (Yuru Yuri) is on its second season and gaining popularity and another (K-ON!) is kind of getting attention again for some reason unknown to me.

So who did make the cut? Well, you can tell from the cover, hopefully, since every series featured has one girl on the cover (as well as in the book).

- Menace from Queen's Blade (in her bikini top from the PSP games)
- Tsumugi from K-ON!!
- Sailor Iron Mouse from Sailor Moon
- Chinatsu from Yuru Yuri
- Tira from Soulcalibur V
- Tira from Bakuretsu Hunter

So what about the chick front and center? Well, she's my own character, Lamia. She isn't really in the book, but she is my most popular character so I put her on the cover instead of the main character of my story FaLLEN, who is Arma and in the book. She's the secondary lead, so it works.

I tried to put the characters in different outfits from what they wear in the book, except for Tira from SC and Iron Mouse because I love those outfits so much. Didn't bother with highlights, just kept the coloring simple. I think that's kind of in style right now, anyway... simple shading, little to no highlights... I'm okay with that trend.

My most favorite character to draw in the book was probably Iron Mouse, and the most difficult was Tira from SC, though she was also a lot of fun and I hope I can draw her in a sexy pinup or something. Menace was also a challenge with all her bling... the most un-fun to draw were Mari and Tsumugi for some reason. Strange because I really like those characters...
