i made this while i was attending a course at peter's valley two summers back. it was my first real exposure to blacksmithing. the duck was just one of those side projects that had nothing to do with the course, but it was probably the best thing i completed while there.

i ended up trading this for a shirt.. it was a nice shirt, but definetly not worth the trade in retrospect.

// technical //
mild steel, hot-chiseled to a relief of roughly 3/4 inch

Nice duck! We never get just compensation. That shirt will have been worn and tattered but the duck remains!

damn straight.. but, at the time i was just barely out of my second year in metals.. and i hadn't considered a (financial) worth to what i was making. i was a starry-eyed innocent artist. i've hardened up a good deal since then.

and as for the duck.. i'm sure it has endured. that thing could be used as a weapon, it must have weighed about 2 lbs. i am considering painting the duck in remembrance...
