... was right. Phoenix's hair is a special kind of Hell.

Ok, if you've finished "Trials and Tribulations" (and you better darn well have; otherwise why are you even reading this?), then you know that towards the end of the trial, Dahlia is discovered to have been summoned by Maya Fey, of al people. Dahlia makes this big bitchy show about leaving the body, and then Maya kind of looks around the courtroom, sees Nick and her sister, and collapses.

And the scene cuts to a wideshot of the courtroom and Nick and Mia are just standing there while Maya's crumpled on the floor.

Nuh-uh. Not in my canon. I refuse to believe that Nick went through all of that emotional crap and almost died trying to save the girl just to ignore her when she's sprawled unconscious behind the witness stand. So I drew this to make up for it. Mia was originally supposed to be there, too, but then I decided it was just too much to try and get all three of them in there; I was running out of paper as it was.

This wasn't supposed to be a romantic picture (I can ship Nick/Maya under the right circumstances, I just throw more support behind other pairings in the series), but I can see where people might get that idea, so if that's what you get from it, fine.

Also, my anatomy reeks and desperately needs practicing, I know.
