X-Eye Reality Portrait by odhinnsrunes X-Eye Reality Portrait by odhinnsrunes
Cross Eye Stereogram portrait.

Sit back a bit from your monitor. 3 or 4 feet (1 metre) is probably enough, though you can try more if you have trouble.

Look at the pictures and cross your eyes until the two images come together. Try to focus on something like her nose piercing.

It might help to slowly bring your hands together a few inches from your face until the "extra" outer images disappear.

Posed in DAZ Studio. Rendered in Luxrender via the Reality plugin.

Some tweaking of fireflies in photoshop, but no colour correction.

Maybe you should just try using Vegas Pro and get the red/cyan effect instead, this just goes blurry no matter how close or far I am from it.

But a gorgeous picture nonetheless! <3

Vegas Pro's a bit expensive for just making the 3D effect. However, I think I can do it in Photoshop, so I'll have to give it a try some time. :)

Glad you like the image either way.

Nice clean render, although you may want to try twisting one of the renders a little further. I found that a 3-4 deg Y rotation works best to make the image really pop out. Just a suggestion :)

Two cameras, both pointing at the same spot, but about 2-3 virtual inches apart. Put the right hand camera's image on the left and the left's image on the right. The farther back you sit, the easier it is. :)

Very cool render! However, if I sit here at my computer with my eyes crossed, I think I might be fulfilling some kind of urban myth. :D

It looks good, but her eyes seem to be farther past her eyelids then normal...

I may have moved the camera more than required. That might have caused the problem.

I don't know if thats it though, because everything else seems porportionally deep... maybe in the render the eyes were a little bit behind her eyelids? That could be it.

That could be. It's hard to tell until you actually see it in 3D. :)

I think you should put together a tutorial on how to get this effect.

Hmm. I might just do that. It's actually pretty easy to do.

Viewing from farther away or with the picture smaller on the screen can help stop the pain. :)

I agree. I have sen this once before and it is a great change on the old stereoscopes of the old days and the view-master of our childhood days.

Try backing up a bit from your monitor or making it smaller. Then relax, un-focus your eyes and let them cross. Concentrate on her nose piercing and try to bring the double image of it together. Then refocus your eyes. It might also help to slowly bring your hands together a few inches from your face to get rid of the distracting "extra" images on either side.

I hope this helps!

CHuckle.

Doesn't work for people with widely spaced eyes like me. Neither do about 3/4 of the optical illusions.

Sorry, I couldn't resist doing another stereo one. It was a quick render (30 minutes per side) so I figured why not. :)
