What's Carrera like to use? I've been thinking of picking it up. Is it anything like Daz Studio in it's interface?
I already tried to move from Daz to Poser but I think I suffered minor braindamage because of the complexity of it. >_<

Anyway, amazing render. :D

Carrara is one of the nicer 3D programs to use. It is definately more complex than DAZ|Studio, but it can do so much more, and the rendering engine is one of the best out there once you get the hang of tweaking it a bit. It defaults to a pit of a preview render, but it is capable of very high quality renders as well. Setting up scenes is Carrara's strongest point other than rendering and lighting, but it is also a good moddeler and has a very powerful texturing system. I've used everything from Maya and 3D Studio to Bryce, DAZ Studio and Poser, and this has the abilities of all of them.

The interface is a bit of a cross between Poser and DAZ|Studio. And if you go through some of the tutorials and skim the manual, is fairly simple to use.

I've only had Version 6 for a few days, but it is a far better product than version 5. It has the ability to read the Poser runtime files the way DAZ|Studio does and you can pose, etc right in the program, but it is a bit trickier than in Studio because it does not have the posing dials, but the 3D manipulators make up a lot for that.

Version 6 is supposed to import DAZ|Studio files directly, but that is still a bit buggy, and I have had no luck with that yet, however they say there will be a fix out by the end of September. Once that is out, you can do your posing in Studio, then import into Carrara for the scene setup, lighting and rendering.

If you get it, I hope you enjoy it!
