Got matte acrylic for Christmas and haven't had a chance to play with it until recently because of being sick for most of January Llama Emoji-73 (Sick or Not feeling well) [V4]

Painting shadows and light is infinitely easier with acrylic than watercolor: I just loved picking out the highlights on the leaves. I want to use it more!

Hahahah you go at it with the matte acrylic!

Yes, painting some contrast is way better! I love how it works and you could even use watercolors alongside these acrylics?

I love to see your art everytime <3

Its about time i got around to using it!

Exactly, since they're matte (like gouache) I could easily combine, I just haven't decided what I want to paint with both of them yet...

Yes, I can see why! I also started recently (since the start of february) to use acrylics and I like them, also don't know how to use them together either. Maybe just making a background in watercolor and placing a bold character in front of that?

I did just that in my sketchbook yesterday! I painted a loose background in watercolor of water and clouds at night and drew a little character on it in a boat with matte acrylic :D

Its simple but I'm really pleased with it!

Wow it looks like gouache! Wow! Btw I really like the subject and you captured the effect of the light between the leaves really well, good job! Nod Heart

Yeah! Its like well-behaved gouache; the bottoms layers don't lift up when you paint over it :D

Thank you! I keep wanting to paint the same light-through-leaves idea over and over.

I used to paint a lot with acrylics when I was a teen in art school, it's a fun and quite forgiving medium but I like the look of gouache more, have you ever tried acrylic gouache? :) (Smile)

I honestly can't tell the difference between acrylic gouache and matte gouache - they behave identically, as far as I can tell.

I only have two tubes of acrylic gouache but I enjoy the cute range from colors you can buy from Holbein.
