GAMERA - Garasharp

Now onto Garasharp. For the males, I heavily referenced the toys. The design of the head is referenced from vipers, since I felt this would it would look better. Also, the horns are referenced from real-life oxen. As for the hood pattern, I heavily referenced Arbok and the Phanto enemies from Super Mario Bros 2. For the females, I heavily based the design on the ones seen in Matt Frank (KaijuSamurai)'s The Last Hope. Much like the males, the design of the head is also referenced from vipers. For the rattle and tail spike, I referenced Daizua123's Garasharp design for Gamera: Legend of the Guardians. In case if you're wondering why there are two genders for Garasharp, it's because I wanted to make this serpentine kaiju sexually dimorphic. 

Its roars will be Classic Sea Serpent or Dragon sound effects.

- Females: Smaller size than males, lack of hood pattern, smaller hood, shorter, backward-pointing horns, light green coloration, smaller tail rattle and tail spike.

Bio


Garasharp are cobra-like kaiju with oxen-like horns. Like Jiger, they have a stinger at the end of their tails. They're usually found in forests, valleys, and open plains. Garasharp are also highly social kaiju. During mating season, the males will compete each other for females, and when a male eventually finds a mate, he will build a nest for the female to lay her eggs and give birth to an army of baby Garasharp. Garasharp are attentive parents, and both will guard their offspring and their eggs from danger. They take turns; the female stays behind and guards the eggs, while the male goes out to hunt. As they switch turns, the male guards the nest, while the female goes to hunt.

Garasharp was discovered in 1981 when two of them shot out of the ground like a missile in Shinjuku and began destroying several buildings before making their way to the Shinjuku Sumitomo building. There, they began inflicting massive damage to the building within, and began building a nest inside the remains of the building. Inside the nest, were a newly laid cluster of eggs. The smaller Garasharp stayed to guard the nest, while the larger one went out to hunt. The incident later appeared on a newspaper article shortly after and had caught the attention of the JSDF, who later went to Shinjuku straight to the scene. 

Several JSDF soldiers attempted to bombard the serpent with their missiles, but to no avail, the serpent shrugged off the damage. It then shook the rattle at the tip of its tail, emitting a supersonic sound wave powerful enough to inflict numbness upon everyone in the area. Some of the JSDF soldiers however weren't affected by the sound wave and managed to carry all of their numbed soldiers to their vehicles and proceeded to fall back. 

However, this same sound wave had also caught the attention of Gamera, who then arrived to confront the serpentine monster. As the monster turned to face Gamera, his eyes had widened with horror; this wasn't a new threat to him at all. Rather, it was a kaiju he previously fought against during his clash with the Gyaos: Garasharp. These particular memories have driven trauma into Gamera's heart, but this didn't stop him. He regained confidence and charged towards the giant cobra. Garasharp then shook its tail rattle again, causing Gamera to roar in agony. Garasharp then pointed its tail spike right at Gamera and attempted to impale him.

However, Gamera was quick enough to block the attack. Then, the tail spike began spinning like a drill, drawing blood from Gamera's hands. Gamera had to let go. Then Garasharp battered Gamera in the face several times, stunning him. As Gamera looked up at Garasharp, it then tackled him, bit and held him on the shoulder and tossed him far away from the nest. As Garasharp headed back to the nest, Gamera later woke up within the suburbs of Tokyo, having recovered from all the damage he had taken as he marched off to Shijunku to confront Garasharp again.

As Gamera approached Garasharp again, Gamera fired his Plasma Fireball straight at Garasharp's head. But the fireball was absorbed instead. Marukobukarappa then proceeded to clobber the giant cobra with its claws, weakening it in the process. As Gamera prepared to kill Garasharp, he then noticed the clutch of eggs inside the remains of the building. Considering from what he saw, Gamera realized that this Garasharp is a male, and that he was only trying to ensure the safety of his offspring. Gamera also realized that the second Garasharp is the female, meaning that it must have already left to hunt by the time he got to the nest. And considering the fact that the male Garasharp was trying to keep its offspring safe, Gamera now understood that the Garasharp built their nest in Shijunku and layed their eggs in there to ensure the survival of their species. All he could do now was take pity on the giant snake. 

Suddenly, a Gyaos appeared from the sky and attacked the nest. Knowing that the Garasharp species will likely become extinct despite his previous encounter with the Garasharp Matriarch, Gamera blasted the Gyaos with a Plasma Fireball, then picked up the eggs one by one and carried them to the location of his shrine. Then he came back, carried the male in his hands, and brought him there. Finally, he tracked down the female in the Aokigahara and carried her to safety. As the Gyaos got on its feet, Gamera brutally decapitated it with another Plasma Fireball. Then he flew to the location of his shrine to see both Garasharp and their young safe and sound. 

Gamera also managed to retrieve the corpse of the very same Gyaos that he beheaded, and he proceeded to tear the corpse into proportions appropriate enough for the Garasharp to eat. To his delight, all of the Garasharp eggs have hatched just in time. Gamera then left the Garasharp and headed to the shrine to get some rest.

In 1996, it turned out that in actuality, other Garasharp have been living in different parts of the world, including Japan. One day, Ryuji Kusanagi, Tatsunari Moribe and Megumi Ishikawa were out for a nice stroll in a lush and quiet forest, when Megumi decided to sit down on a oddly shaped green rock, unaware that it's actually a sleeping Garasharp. As Ryuji looked at the set of horns, the Garasharp woke up and Megumi fell off of it. Luckily, Ryuji was able to catch her. The three friends remained as calm as possible, and the Garasharp was just about to leave them, when Megumi suddenly slipped, causing a small rock to hit the serpentine kaiju's face, angering it even more.

As it glared furiously at Ryuji, Tatsunari and Megumi, it lunged straight at them and chased them through the forest until it lost track of them. It then slithered back into the wilderness.

Garasharp's tail spike can spin like a drill. In some instances, it uses this technique to burrow underground.

Garasharp has IQ levels that are much higher than those of humans. As a result of these intelligence levels, Garasharp can understand human language very well, and can easily communicate with other kaiju, as exemplified when the male Garasharp spoke in the Atlantean language as he told Gamera why he and his mate attacked Shinjuku.
