Defenders Of Earth - Zigra

Description

For Zigra, I referenced his Trendmasters toy, while borrowing design elements from Garchomp, Gigan, and Kiryu. I also decided to give him a cyborg-like or cybernetic feel to the design. The idea of Zigra having extendable/retractable blades in his forearms that replace his Razor Fins also takes inspiration from the Marvel character Razor Fist, especially the MCU version.

For his Aquatic Form, I referenced mako sharks and goblin sharks for the shape of the body and tail to make him streamlined for swimming underwater.

For his Flight Form, I heavily referenced Gugenheim98's Zigra design for Kaiju King, as well as jet planes and fighter aircrafts, especially the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Personality

Due to his incredible reflexes, speed, and efficient fighting skills, Zigra is sometimes considered to be one of Gamera's most brutal and violent opponents, as he is shown to be very vicious in combat, preferring to shred his opponents up close with his Razor Fins.

However, despite his diabolical mindset, ruthlessness, and sadistic nature, Zigra is surprisingly patient, and even at his worst is able to think logically. Much like Viras, Zigra expresses deep loyalty towards his creators, which extends to the point where he cares for them.

Additionally, Zigra is later shown to have a code of honor, as he will side with others if they have a common enemy.

Bio

(Warning: This bio contains intense violence and blood. Discretion will be advised.)

(From Dr. Lom Phlizium's notes and log entries)

Log Entry #5

"This is Dr. Lom Phlizium on log entry #5 of Project Z. The attempts at creating Zigra proved to be a complete success. However, the moment he was created, he suddenly became aggressive and began assaulting various personnel and soldiers, resulting in lots of injuries. Thankfully, Freena was able to calm him down before he could do further harm."

"This is Dr. Lom Phlizium on log entry #10 of Project Z. Zigra seems to be doing very well with the citizens of Broomark, and is shown to exhibit signs of passiveness. Unfortunately, a swarm of giant flying creatures soon attacked our city, and Zigra managed to drive them off, albeit he recieved injuries in the process."

"This is Dr. Lom Phlizium on log entry #11 of Project Z. After Zigra's battle with the Kaltoss, he appears to have been savagely mauled, and he needs time to heal. Lord Zanon proposed that we rebuild Zigra with machinery.

Zigra is renowned across the galaxy as the pinnacle of cybernetic technology. There's no record of exactly when Zigra was built, other than that of the cycloptic aliens of the planet Broomark. If Viras is the brains, and Guiron is the demolisher, then Zigra is the assassin, and he wears the title with pride. Zigra's inner workings and horrifically beautiful mesh of synthetic allows, circuitry, and organic flesh may be just too far beyond the grasp of the somewhat technologically challenged cyclopes. While the gigantic cyborg does indeed answer to the Broomarks, he does seem to have a consciousness and sentience of his own...it would almost seem as though he tolerates the Broomarks rather than being subservient to them, yet he still remains loyal to them and cares for them deep down, indicating at the possibility that he has human-like sentiments.

Due to his incredible reflexes, speed, and efficient fighting skills, Zigra is sometimes considered to be one of Gamera's most brutal and violent opponents, as he is shown to be very vicious in combat, preferring to shred his opponents up close with his Razor Fins.

In 1971, a year after Jiger's rampage has ended, a mysterious metal shard floated near Earth's atmosphere, glimmering brightly as
astronomers all across the globe were awestruck at this very sight. As the shard got closer and closer, it had stopped. Suddenly, the shard vanished in a bright flash of light! And there, in its place, stood Zigra. Zigra let out a loud roar and flew downwards as he destroyed a few airplanes in the midnight sky. In response to this, a fleet of JSDF vehicles arrived and aimed at him. Three JASDF fighter jets have taken flight to pursue Zigra to ensure he doesn't try to menace humanity.

As Zigra flew through the clouds, the JASDF jets caught up with him, and they proceeded to fire their missiles at him. As they continued to fire, Zigra dodged the attacks from the last two missiles and flew behind the jets as he proceeded to obliterate all of them with his Razor Fins. After all of the jets were destroyed, Zigra dived deep down from above the dark clouds and plunged into the ocean. By the time he went underwater, Zigra changed into his aquatic form and swam off.

Fortunately for the JSDF, they have other surprises in store for Zigra. A fleet of battleships along with the JSDF vehicles sent earlier opened fire on the cyborg and bombarded him with their missiles and cannons. But unfortunately, none of the missiles have damaged Zigra. Zigra then proceeded to destroy all the battleships by swimming into them and cutting through them with his armor. However, the explosions from the destruction Zigra caused had caught the attention of Gamera, who later chased the cyborg through the open ocean, attempting to hit him with his fireballs. Zigra then jumped out of the water after dodging Gamera's attacks as he soared over the horizon.

As Zigra soared over Chiba and much of eastern Tokyo that very night, he fired his Scattered Light Beam Cluster from the beam aperture in his forehead and destroyed several buildings in his path as he landed within the ruins. Several JSDF vehicles arrived to confront him, but were unfortunately demolished as Zigra fired his laser beam at them, incinerated a crowd, and destroyed any buildings surrounding him. As he sat on a building victoriously, Gamera fired one of his Plasma Fireballs right at the alien's face, knocking him off.

As Zigra stood back up on his feet, he delivered a hit to Gamera's face with his tail and attempted to slash him with one of his Razor Fins, only to get punched and kicked by the giant turtle. As Gamera attempted to throw another punch at Zigra, the cyborg somersaulted backwards and fired his Laser Gem at his chest. Gamera then proceeded to fire his High Plasma attack at Zigra. As he did, Zigra changed into his Flight Form and dodged several of Gamera's Plasma Fireballs before flying high into the sky, changing back into his primary form, and somersaulting right behind Gamera to slash him in the shell with his Razor Fins. Fortunately, Gamera noticed and proceeded to block the attack. Then he shoved Zigra a few feet back and punched him in the chest before knocking him off his feet with his tail.

As Gamera proceeded to slam his tail into Zigra a few times, Zigra countered the attack with his left blade and fired his Scattered Light Beam Cluster at Gamera's carapace, stunning him. Zigra then somersaulted forward, slashed Gamera in the plastron, leaving a huge cross-shaped scar in his chest, and then gave the giant turtle a powerful kick, knocking him off his feet. As Zigra prepared to slash Gamera again, Gamera grabbed his right blade and grabbed him by the neck before tossing him into the ground. As Zigra got back on his feet, Gamera proceeded to fire another High Plasma attack. But to his surprise, Zigra had sliced the fireball cleanly. Zigra then fired his Scattered Light Beam Cluster at Gamera's neck, weakening him.

Zigra charged straight at Gamera as he knocked the turtle kaiju off his feet and landed feet-first on his plastron. As Gamera attempted to fire one of his Plasma Fireballs, Zigra stomped on his head, and then on his neck. As Zigra attempted to slit Gamera in the throat, Gamera fired his High Plasma attack into Zigra's chest, causing a massive explosion to fling Zigra into the air and back a few feet. Gamera roared aggressively at Zigra and charged at him. However, Zigra jumped back a few feet and fired his Scattered Light Beam Cluster, obscuring Gamera's vision. He ultimately managed to get the upper hand slashing Gamera in the upper chest, impaling him in the upper torso, and delivering several cuts to the plastron.

Gamera then attempted to fire several Plasma Fireballs at Zigra, but none of them were able to hit him as he flew up into the fiery sky an dodged them high up. Gamera groaned weakly as Zigra landed on the ground, blood dripping from his wounds. As he did, Gamera then noticed a series of fallen girders on the ground and proceeded to get back up. As Zigra looked on in confusion, Gamera then allowed himself to be killed, much to Zigra's delight. Little did he know was that the giant turtle had a trick up his sleeve. As Zigra charged towards Gamera, intending on finishing him once and for all, he suddenly tripped and fell down face-first. As he noticed his foot jammed in the pile of metal, he then struggled to get it unstuck. As Zigra finally set his foot free, he then noticed that Gamera was gone. This seemed odd. As Zigra looked around, Gamera suddenly delivered a powerful punch to his face, causing him to fall on the ground. Gamera roared with rage, his eyes glowing a bright shade of green, as he grabbed Zigra by the tail, slammed him into the ground with immense strength and force, tossed him into the sky, and fired his Plasma Fire at Zigra's back, causing him to scream in pain. Fortunately for Zigra, his armor was very tough and resistant, and this allowed him to withstand Gamera's Plasma Fire.

As Zigra panted in slight exhaustion, Gamera fired a plasma fireball to his hand and formed a fiery plasma fist. Gamera then delivered a direct hit to Zigra's abdomen, and the force of the punch was so strong, it blew Zigra away, sending him crashing into some buildings. Gamera roared victoriously, having destroyed Zigra, although not completely. As he celebrated, he suddenly caught sight of the Broomarks' ships flying away. He could hear the very sound of the Prime Minister's son calling out to Gamera for help inside one of the ships. This made Gamera realize that the Broomarks have been using Zigra as part of their plans, and he proceeded to chase after the fleet in order to save both the Prime Minister, his board, and his son, all taken back to Broomark
, held captives as bargaining chips.

Despite the condition Zigra was in after his creators managed to retrieve him, they managed to repair him in no time. Additionally, they also removed his Razor Fins in favor of a new enhancement: a pair of retractable blades. As soon as they managed to finish with the enhancements, they had Zigra prepared.

Negotiation with the Earth was attempted, but the Broomarks were tenacious; nothing short of permanent residency on Earth would satisfy them. Meanwhile, what the aliens hadn’t counted on was that their most recent enemy, Gamera, had caught wind of the abduction.

Caught off guard by the giant terrapin, they realized that he had actually followed their ships all the way back to Broomark. By the time Gamera reached Broomark, he found Zigra standing before him. A hologram is then projected from Zigra's  beam aperture, and from within it revealed the Broomark leader Zanon. Zanon threatened to slaughter their hostages as a desperate attempt to stave him off. The bluff fell apart in an instant, and with a thunderous roar Gamera stepped forward and attacked anyway. Retreating to the farthest corner of their base, the Broomarks turned to one of their monsters.

An underground holding pen opened its doors, and a familiar blade rose out of the pen. It was Guiron! Gamera was shocked. He thought that he defeated the blade-headed kaiju, but boy was he wrong. What makes this even worse is that Zigra is joining the battle. Gamera knew he wouldn't stand a chance. Zigra then utilized his prosthetic blades and charged at Gamera, swinging at him aggressively. Gamera then drop-kicked Zigra into a nearby valley and kicked at him in a fit of rage, leaving the Broomarks, including Zanon, in a state of shock. Guiron then charged at Gamera, and Gamera proceeded to charge at him. Then Gamera pounced on Guiron's head and jumped off of him before landing on his feet and screeching to a halt. Suddenly, Gamera gets hit in the back of the head by Zigra, who by that time has changed into his Flight form. As Zigra divebombed on Gamera, Gamera moved out of the cyborg's path and knocked him into Guiron with his tail.

While their battle raged on, however, the humans began to see the turmoil unfolding around them. Ruined cities littered the barren horizon and women and children, starving in the streets, cowered not even a few feet away. The mighty “alien invaders” they had once feared were a pitiful, dying people, clutching desperately to life.

As Guiron climbed onto a nearby mesa, he leaped towards Gamera, only to get knocked away. Guiron then crash-landed, his blade lodged into the ground. Zigra then continued to attack Gamera again and is on the brink of gaining the upper hand by armlocking him and placing his left blade very close to the guardian kaiju's throat. Suddenly, a loud shriek sounded in the skies above, catching Gamera and Zigra's attention. As Zigra let go of Gamera and looked closely in the distance, his eyes widened at what he had seen:
the Kaltoss, circling high above, had taken notice both of Gamera's attack and Guiron’s defeat. The entire swarm descended, anxious to finally finish off their Broomark prey.

Despite his anger toward the aliens, Gamera could not let their base be destroyed- not with humans inside it. Suddenly, a Kaltoss flew straight in front of him, attempting to kill him. Thankfully, Zigra managed to save his life by slapping the Kaltoss with his right blade and impaling it. Gamera, having witnessed what Zigra did, knew that the Kaltoss would destroy both of them if their battle continued. So Zigra and Gamera formed a tag team against the Kaltoss, Zigra slicing through their bodies, and Gamera lighting up the sky with a barrage of fireballs.

Enemy after enemy swooped down upon the two kaiju, but after a long, bloody war, Gamera and Zigra were victorious. The Broomarks quickly released their hostages as Gamera loomed overhead. He watched patiently as they ran to safety… then stomped closer to finish what he started. Just then, however, the Prime Minister’s son ran forward. Standing before the Broomarks, he pleaded with Gamera not to kill them. The Prime Minister himself soon joined him, as well as the rest of his board. The Broomarks, they desperately proclaimed, were not evil. With the “Space Gyaos” destroyed they could stop their violent acts and rebuild Broomark in peace. Understanding, Gamera quietly backed off and collapsed, exhausted from his battles.

Zanon and his forces, flabbergasted by the humans’ display, praised them, and Gamera, as their saviors. Once the guardian had regained his strength the Broomarks supplied the Prime Minister and his group with a ride back home, which Gamera carefully escorted after he and Zigra acknowledge each other. Upon arriving on Earth, humanity finally struck a bargain with the Broomarks; so long as they remained peaceful, they were welcome to take residency on the planet Mars. Their only other condition was that, if it were ever necessary, mankind would be allowed to cohabitate with them.

Agreeing, the Broomarks thanked them ecstatically for their kindness, then disappeared into the stars, ready to begin their new life, with Guiron and Zigra now living their lives in peace.
