One year after Viras' defeat, a small earthquake struck at Mt. Myoko. In response to the earthquake, a news report was made. Later that night, a group of motorcyclists arrive and damage some nearby property before driving away. The bikers drove down the highway and through a tunnel, when suddenly...

CRASH!!

The tunnel collapses and buries them all alive! A truck driver just outside the tunnel saw the head of a huge monster as the monster burrowed past, and was traumatized by the sight, later telling authorities what had happened, and what he had seen. Later during a peaceful afternoon in Shibuya, the ground began to rumble, sending a flock of birds into a panic. As numerous pedestrians turned to see what was going on, the ground suddenly began to crack, sending dust and small bits of debris flying into the air. The earthquake then stopped. Suddenly, a giant green blade sprung out of the ground, sending a crowd into a panic.

As the giant blade continued to rise out of the crevice, it is then followed by a large shape. As the dust finally cleared, it finally revealed the source of the earthquake: the blade-headed monstrosity Guiron. As several civilians fled into a panic, the monster let out a loud roar as he sliced several buildings to chunks with his head blade. The JSDF immediately arrived at the scene to confront the monster. Unfortunately though, the monster managed to overpower them by cutting through several of their tanks, helicopters and jets. As the monster continued to rampage through Shibuya, a rotor blade from one of the destroyed helicopters flew into the air, and straight into the ocean.

As the pieces of the rotor blade sank to the bottom of the sea, Gamera immediately noticed as he swam by. Knowing that Japan has been put under danger again, he rose from the depths to face Guiron and battles him fiercely, but is badly wounded and left for dead belly-up at the bottom of Tokyo Bay, but is later roused from the shore and resumes his battle. Guiron gains an advantage by shooting one of his shurikens into Gamera's limbs. It turns towards the remaining JSDF vehicles, who corner him. One of the missile launcher vehicles launch a couple of guided missiles: one slams into a far-off building, causing debris to rain down on Guiron, distracting him long enough for Gamera to gain the upper hand and knock Guiron out of consciousness, allowing the Japanese government to successfully capture and study him.

A few days later, Guiron was reported to have been gone missing from containment, much to the shock of the Japanese government.
