Bio
In 1966, an expedition ventured underground into the Valley of Rainbows in New Guinea. Most of the expedition force died from traps in the caves, but the survivors discovered a giant jewel. Strange cave paintings adorn the walls, featuring two monsters locked in combat. Several of the remaining survivors have murdered each other for the gem, and the last remaining explorers manage to extract it. Unbeknownst to the explorers, this gem was actually an egg. During the final part of the trip back to Japan, the gem was accidentally left under an infrared lamp. The electromagnetic radiation from the lamp induced the creature to hatch at a drastically increased speed, and also caused it to grow to an unusually large size within minutes of hatching. Barugon then rapidly grew to his full size, causing the boat to explode, before swimming to shore and making his way through Tokyo Bay before continuing onwards to Tokyo where he froze areas of the city solid with his Chilling Liquid, including Tokyo Tower. Soon, the JSDF arrive and attempt to bombard the creature, but Barugon uses his Rainbow Death Ray to make their vehicles explode. As this happened, Barugon's Rainbow Death Ray also happened to catch the attention of Gamera, who then goes to fight him. But by the time he got there, Tokyo was now engulfed in an ice storm. The two kaiju clashed in the ice-coated city, and just when Gamera got the upper hand, Barugon used his Chilling Liquid to freeze Gamera solid, though Gamera managed to cut Barugon's cheek with his frozen hand just before he was completely frozen. Fortunately though, the JSDF had a backup plan; they planned to use a huge ruby that was found with Barugon's egg to attract the giant chameleon to Lake Biwa and drown him. But as they nearly succeeded in doing so, Barugon used his extremely long tongue to ensnare the gem and consume it, much to the shock and surprise of various JSDF soldiers. As Barugon left to continue his attack, the areas of Osaka frozen by him finally began to thaw. Revived, Gamera emerged from his icy prison and flew to Lake Biwa to fight Barugon. Though Barugon was a worthy fighter and capable of defending himself in close quarters, Gamera held the upper hand, and hurled him into the Biwako Ohashi Bridge. Barugon made it to the shore again, and attempted to subdue Gamera by knocking him down with his tongue and holding him against the ground with his legs, but Gamera remained in control, eventually firing a Plasma Fireball at Barugon and knocking him into the lake unconscious. As Gamera took off and soared over the horizon, Barugon eventually sank to the bottom of the lake, never to be seen again... or so it seems.
Abilities/Aspects -Extendable Tongue - Chilling Liquid - Rainbow Death Ray - Intelligence - Physical capabilities - Extraordinary Jumper Notes: For Barugon, I decided to combine both his Showa design and his manga-only Heisei design. Like the Showa design, the smaller horns on his eyes point forward. The spikes that produce his Rainbow Death Ray are arranged in four rows.
Like the manga design, Barugon has red, front-facing eyes, blue skin, and green horns, spikes, and claws. I also included a small head casque, a more streamlined crocodilian body and additional spikes running all the down the length of his body to the tail, and two pairs of long spikes extending horizontally near the end of the tail most closely resembling those of a Stegosaurus. As to note, the head casque for Barugon takes inspiration from Alex Alcanter's Gamera comic.
