Double Duty (WIP) by ObscureStar Double Duty (WIP) by ObscureStar
Designed this cabinet to fit the small space of our 800 sqft home and tie the whole room together maaaan.

The main room of our cabin is a large open space which is kitchen/dining room, and living room. Facing into the living room is a love-seat futon which uses an extra bolster to unfold into a twin-sized bed. Behind this on the kitchen side is the dining table.

Storing the extra cushion was a waste of space and of a good cushion, so this cabinet will now sit behind the couch facing the table with the cushion on top of it, providing storage and a cozy bench seat.

The table is made of sheesham wood so this cabinet (constructed of oak and plywood) was stained in layers to match.

The back is still to be done. Like the rest of the cabinet it is dual-purpose functioning as a seat-back most of the time and a headboard for the futon when it is laid flat.

I did the construction and inlays, my partner created the stain patterns.
