When I first played DD, it was a mess, and now that it is on the PC, they taken that mess that was on the consoles, and... kept it a mess.
The most appealing thing about the game are its combat mechanics and Pawn system. I absolutely love Pawns. The AI does its best to make sense of the things the player does and works out a way to apply it, sometimes with hilarious effect.
Returning as Obaba, I can only carry one Pawn over to the PC version. Summer or winter.
Toji made the cut, as I need some sort of meatsheild for a game where you mostly fight boss battles. Bosses with multiple health bars and the ability to destroy you in terrible ways. I would very much like to bring Natsume in at some time to play party healer, for apple gathering, and Deerball playoffs, but that is just the problem with DD game. No alternate save files. No older save files. Its punishing on so many levels.
While I would love to give this game a hearty endorsement and invite friends to play, I simply can't. It does have its appeal, as I said, but the story, the character animations, lip sync, the world and lore are trying so hard to be something epic and they fail throughout. The best the PC version offers is a chance for modders to look at this game and improve on what it was trying to do.
