Classes have altered from previous years due to demand and lack thereof, but we're excited for the changes and hope there's something for every rider and owner out there.

Let the trials begin! Any questions, please COMMENT below
Maps to follow soon.

CLASSES

In-Hand Showing
Always popular at the Summer Fayre, the In-Hand showing has become part of Oak Hollow Horse Trials. There are separate classes for all breeds, ages, colours you can think of, but here are some example classes:
:pointr: Coloured Horse & Ponies Society (CHAPS) classes
:pointr: Natives: Welsh Ponies (sections A to D), Fell, Dale, Shetland, Miniature Shetland and other Mountain & Moorland breeds
:pointr: Sport Horses, all ages & genders

Individual Discipline Classes (IDCs)
Returning due to popular demand are the Dressage & Showjumping classes of a few years previously. This year we've added Hunter Trials, a competition based on cross-country in which the aim is to achieve closest to the optimum time rather than fastest time.
:pointr: Dressage Classes: Prelim (walk, trot canter test), Novice (nothing more complicated than rein back and leg yield), Elementary (nothing more complicated than half walk pirouettes), Medium (
travers, shoulder-in, simple flying changes)
:pointr: Showjumping Classes: Novice/0.9m, Discovery/1m, Newcomers/1.1m, Foxhunter/1.2m
:pointr: Hunter Trials Classes: Triers/75cm, Novice/85cm, Novice Pairs/85cm, Open/1.1m

Open One Day Event
The Open ODE has proved popular over the last two years so it is here to stay.
:pointr: Jumps are max 0.9m tall and 1m wide
:pointr: Dressage test is Novice level
:pointr: Dressage takes places from 10am, with the showjumping commencing half an hour afterwards. After lunch the cross-country runs until 4pm.

CCI** Three Day Event
This year modifications to the XC course allow Oak Hollow to host three day events a level higher than previous years.
:pointr: Dressage is Elementary/Medium level
:pointr: XC has 35 efforts at 1.15m max height, 1.8m drop depth
:pointr: SJ has 14 fences at max height 1.6m spread, 1.2m upright.

CCI**** Three Day Event
The first event of its kind in the North East of England, Oak Hollow Horse Trials offers a test to horse and rider to be remembered!
:pointr: Dressage is Advanced Medium level
:pointr: XC has 40 efforts at 1.45m max height, 2m drop depth
:pointr: SJ has 14 fences at max height 1.65m spread, 1.3m upright

RULES & SCORING

General
:bulletyellow: Any questions? Please comment below!
:bulletgreen: Entries should be submitted by NOTE
:bulletyellow: Correct attire for horse and rider should be worn for each class, this includes safety attire. If you are unsure, please comment below.
:bulletgreen: NO tracing, NO photomanipulations, NO photo backgrounds
:bulletyellow: Displaying your horse misbehaving WILL NOT affect your placing.
:bulletgreen: Displaying your horse rearing mid-dressage test, refusing an obstacle, or a rider falling WILL affect your placing.
:bulletyellow: Ponies may enter the eventing classes, within reason (i.e. I don't expect to see a 13.2 whizzing around the 4* course, but a 14.1hh has competed Olympic level (2/3*) and come 2nd Individual so it can happen!)

In-Hand
:bulletyellow: Handlers do not have to be shown in the picture, but their FULL NAME should be stated on the entry
:bulletgreen: Native ponies/cob types do not have to be plaited but horses (particularly sport horses) should be
:bulletyellow: Horses should be shown at halt, walk or trot

Ridden Classes
:bulletyellow: Images MUST be full-body.
:bulletgreen: If competing in any of the eventing classes, images may be submitted separately or as a collage.
:bulletyellow: Eventers may only compete in ONE of the eventing classes
:bulletgreen: XC/SJ pictures do not have to be shown over the obstacle if you can think of a good alternative image

Scoring
Scoring will be staying much the same as previous years but with some small changes.
It is still judged on a "hierarchy": for example, the leader of the scoreboard of 15 horses will get 15 points, the final equipage will receive 1 point.
All art is judged against your own gallery, however there is an added section for how your art compares to that of other competitors.

Artistic Correctness (40%)
It isn't fair to totally discount artistic ability. Points are awarded according to anatomical correctness, perspective, whether the background blends with the foreground well, shadows and lighting, shading, etc. This will be a combined score of horse and rider - so if you draw your rider poorly, but your horse excellently, you will lose points.

Artistic Vision (40%)
How original is the piece of art, how inventive is the pose? Does the horse seem to be displaying any feelings towards the jump or behaviour of the rider? How is the rider being expressed? I will then order the competitors by their score and give them a new score based on their hierarchy - for example, the leader of the scoreboard of 15 horses will get 15 points, the final equipage will receive 1 point.

Comparison (10%)
This is a simple ranking of how your entry compares overall to others in the class, taking both Correctness & Vision into consideration.

The RNG Factor (10%)
Because shows always have some element of randomness - you never know how the horse will behave on the day! - I will roll an RNG for each competitor between 1-100. I will then order the competitors by their RNG number and give them a new score based on their hierarchy.

Calculating the Final Score
I will apply the percentages and those with the highest shall win.
