Why We're Here by NyxenAvenger Why We're Here by NyxenAvenger
The witch woke up from her dazed state, the waters she fell into were no longer around her. Just the damp touch of the cave floor against her cheek, if it was a 'cave' at all. It was untouched by the light that was for sure, but the intricate walls made it seem more of a dark temple of sorts. The witch got up and touched the walls around her, it felt like wet fresh flesh that has slapped on the side of the butcher's counter.

It was clear that this was not of her world, indescribable whispers and utterances floated by her ears, the sort that would drive men to madness. But Aderyn was a witch, and no stranger to this type of stuff.

"Ah, you're awake. I do believe I deserve a thank you for getting you back into your clothes, no idea how you even fit into such things for mother's sake." The witch heard a recognisable voice, she looked to find Geg sitting on the side of the wall, a strange case resting on her lap. She wore brown rags, the grandeur of her previous job had worn off completely.

"Where are we? And where the heck is my vampire friend?" Aderyn looked around so as to analyse her surroundings, Geg simply stood up, dusting her rags off.

"We are deep below the fort, underwater in fact. Your friend is back up there, I would have taken her had you not shown up. Looking back on it she's not fit to be exposed to the eldritch truth, unlike you."

"How do you know that?"
Geg simply poked her finger into the witch's bloated middle.

"Your green stomach reeks of Hyunclethep's spawn, I know you've had a lot of experience. Tell me is it every night or just the fortnight?" Aderyn could not respond, the heat  that emanated from her face could have cook someone had not the cyclops sighed.

"Getting off track, I suppose you want to know why we're here. To understand the whole thing let me tell you about my mother." Geg snapped her fingers, and as if it were a dream the entire place began to shatter and fly up into the red skies, screams and shouts came from a city under siege. A massive blob like creature lay on top of it, devouring the remnants as if it was finger food. A large tidal wave began to rise to cover both the monster and the city, when the chaos died the creature remained. Her engorged middle growled, causing yet another tidal wave to rise from the sea.

Hungry for more, the god's bloated self swam for another country to devour. Geg snapped her fingers again, and in a blink of an eye they were back in the cave.

"Shor'akatar, the devourer of worlds. She was born for the sole purpose of crushing the Wise One's ancient enemies, the elfnaar, and eating up what left of their worlds. But with consumption comes growth, with growth comes power, with power comes desire, and desire manifests its wretched self into hunger. As a result she is endless hungry, and from what I've read the past few years she has your world in her sights next. Apparently eternal servitude isn't enough for my mother, and it does not bode well for the Wise Ones." Aderyn's eye's widened over her glasses, she realised the truth of her world.

"I believe I know why, my husband used to say that in the past my world was under the control of his father."

"You know what happens when gods go to war with gods? The entire universe gets fucked up real bad. And that is why we are here, you my green friend are going to make history here. You are going to help me become a Wise One!"
Aderyn looked at the cyclops, clearly she had one too many shots of slugbrew this morning.

"The list of absurd things I've heard in my life has gotten larger." She muttered under her breath, Geg simply grunted in contempt. She reached for the case and opened it to show the witch.

"It isn't absurd when I have the tools needed for such a transformation, behold the Daggers of Ascendence! It was a gift to your king by my mother, in case he wanted to serve her in the Valley, but by the time he came around to doing so there was no flesh to stick them in, ever the sadistic comedian. You see these markings on my body? They imprison and restrain my being into this human form, these knives remove them, allowing me to grow into the deity I was meant to be!" Geg smiled her wicked smile as Aderyn picked up one of the eldritch daggers, it looked similar to the ones on her world but had a bulbous sack of mysterious energy pulsating from its middle. She placed her metal claw over the edge of it, it was indeed a sharp blade.

"I'll bite, I will help you become a Wise One if it means the safety of my world. In return I expect a gift in return, that feels like a good trade off." Geg simply nodded as she prodded her finger onto a puddle of a tar-like substance below.

"Sure, sure we can discuss your reward once the communion process is all set up. Now let us go! This place was used for dark rituals, I can tell because there's black goo on the floor. There must be a sacrificial chamber somewhere..." Geg breathed out a glowing green mist which formed itself into a ball, and the two set off for the last time...

Godhood is in play as Geg enlists Aderyn for an ambitious quest that will change the world of Hememnith forever!
