Taskmaster by NyxenAvenger Taskmaster by NyxenAvenger
The autumn season had started to settle throughout the land, but to the residents autumn always meant winter. Shrugging off the weather, the old man sat outside in his office as he always did. Taskmaster was an unusual name for the old codger, but it was the name he had always called himself by. Cold mist flowed from the vents on his olive-green face mask as he tapped his wrinkled finger upon the documents in front of him. Starting a new life was hard, but he had the job pretty much done. The derelict shipyards had finally been revitalised, and thus could send new ships to scout the lands for hidden dangers. But all this legal hassle with the workers and that demon overlord was just-

He heard the heavy footsteps from yards away, and slowly placed the documents under his desk. All of a sudden, like the sound of a gun shot, a massive blood-stained sack was thrown in front of him. Like business as usual he got up from his chair and inspected the contents of the sack.

"Another contract handled, yes?" He gruffly asked to the towering demon in front of him, her lips curved into a faint smile in response.

"Yes, snow fiend." The old man breathed a sigh of relief as he tied up the sack to the best of his ability.

"Good. Grandson! Come over here, I want you to do a little job." The old man beckoned for his grandson, a large brutish sort of person who looked unshaven and dirty from hard labour. The old man creaked his joints as he shoved the bag in front of his grandson, who winced at the stench of death emanating from it.

"Deliver this to Alonya Smirnov, you know her yes? This is reparation for her loss." Without question he lifted the sack from the bottom, the fresh blood stained his hands as he waddled on his way to the town. Taskmaster looked  at Isabeth, the sack-carrying demon was missing a leather glove, he had an idea of where she put it.

"Thank god for grandsons, old man like me cannot go around like he used to." Isabeth grunted as she folded her arms.

"Age catches up with everyone." Taskmaster gave a slight chuckle as he walked from his office and onto the edge of the wooden floor, his legs looking like they could buckle any minute.

"What about you? You haven't changed one bit in the last sixty years, your figure yes but I still see battle-hardened warrior." The large demon simply rolled her eyes, she rarely talked about the wars.

"That time has passed Taskmaster, simply want to live in peace like everyone else." Taskmaster took her comment into account, placing his aged hands upon his thighs as he looked towards the town. Though his eyesight was failing he could still make out the lights and the snow.

"да, is true. But sentinels like you maintain that peace, that is why you accept my contracts no?"

"I admit you are right, old friend." She sighed to herself, the old man looked at her, offering up a bag of coins from his chest pocket.

"Will you be wanting payment this time?" Isabeth nudged her head towards the massive bag on her shoulder.

"Нет, this will do as payment, I will see you next time. Next time find something that is not another snow fiend."

The demon stomped off for her home at the foot of the giant mountain, leaving the old man to his own devices as the autumn snow fell.

Isabeth takes, Isabeth delivers.

Hope you enjoy!

I imagine Taskmaster would sound like Clancy Brown, who voices another Taskmaster from The Amazing Spider-Man. BTW, this is getting good.
