I know it says to paint first, and I didn't, but I really recommend painting your boots first if you need to! I used Tulip Soft Fabric paint for the ones you see here.

Yeah I wish I had this tutorial for when I did my moon boots. Gosh they were a pain in the behind. Especially sewing through 2 layers of vinyl, and things kept getting caught in the machine lol. Thanks for the tut!
