Manga/Anime Spotlight: SpiritLullaby
Manga/Anime Spotlight is a weekly feature that highlights the different artists across the deviantART's Manga/Anime community, and is a portal to get to know a bit more about them and their works.
This week's feature is SpiritLullaby
My favourite medium of choice is definitely Traditional; Prismacolour Pencil Crayons or Copic Markers (when I can afford them
) are what I use best with the occasional gel pen for highlights and tiny details on clothes as well as stamp ink for shading and background purposes. I don't own a tablet nor do I really have the patience to work with Digital (though there are a few of those lurking about my gallery)
Most of the time I just go with where it takes me. I can never do the planning it out through thumbnails, rough sketches and so on, I'm way too impatient for that.
I would say somewhere between 3-6 hours if I really stay with it and don't go on any breaks. My friends usually bug me for being so speedy when it comes to drawing.
I started drawing when I was about 8 and took the anime style when I was about 9 - thanks to Digimon and the Pokemon manga that I used to obsess over back then
, then it progressed to making my own stories and soon enough I was drawing non-stop.
As for what made start drawing in that style, I was really attracted to anime at the time and I wanted to try to replicate it in my own way. I have been working with it since.
Lots of music, mostly because it plays out scenes in my head which leads me to draw it. Roleplaying plays another huge part, with roughly 75% of my gallery consisting of ideas from roleplays. Any anime I watch or manga that I read can also contribute, but not as much as the other two.
Outside of deviantART I enjoy works from Luis Royo, Victoria Frances, Kaori Yuki and Sang Sun Park.
On dA I admire artists like bonhwaJP, fog-mire, furan-san and Sephiramy but I'm way too shy to actually let them know that

Always practice and don't be afraid to try something different - be it colouring style, media choice or style choice. It's also good to take a break from art, it helps keep your drawing fuel going without feeling burnt out - I should be telling myself this as well, I almost never stop
And I find that drinking pop helps too, especially if your brain is full of a thousand ideas.
I really enjoy landscapes, mostly because I struggle with them and admire artists that can pull it off with ease. But I also like styles that contain lots of bold and bright colours, and are very off the wall in some way. Kind of like these beauties here:
Thank you for interviewing me! I'm both very flattered and honored!
