Eclipse Change Log: November 28, 2018
Thank you for your continued feedback and bug reports on DeviantArt Eclipse! Our team has been working on customization and personalization options and we have brainstorming sessions planned where we’ll be further discussing how you’ll be able to customize and personalize your profile in Eclipse. We’ve been gathering and sorting your feedback, including the top ways you use Custom Box, and we’ll be reviewing it in these brainstorm sessions. We will have more to share soon! In the meantime, we’re still working on other customization features already in the design stages, including editing your bio and custom cropping of your profile header art. We’ve seen some creative ways people are featuring single deviations on their profile (for example, see @ellysiumn and @katy-l-wood’s profiles), and we’re working on the ability to more-easily feature a single deviation on your profile. Here’s this week’s change log! Change Log Header art quality on profiles has improved. If your header art
Tracing is Not Referencing (Tracing FAQ)
I feel like this needs to be explained, since with the recent string of tracing drama around some particular people I've notice a lot of confusion going on. So I'll try to explain for people who may be confused on the subject. If anyone has a topic that they think I should add or discuss, just let me know. If you want to share this journal, then go ahead. No need to ask! Referencing and Tracing Tracing and referencing are NOT the same thing. Here's the distinction most experienced artists would make on the two subjects.Referencing = Having some pictures nearby to show you how things are done. Hey guys! I wrote up a guide last weekend about how to avoid drama on social media, mostly in creative sectors. It's a brief guide... but it's 26 pages, so you can probably imagine just how extensive a complete guide would be. I've chosen to write it in google docs and you can read it here.

If you like it, please feel free to share it around with your friends and acquaintances, especially when they start complaining about the drama in their lives. Drama isn't necessarily their fault, but really, we shouldn't be standing around in a burning house arguing about who caused the fire -- we ought to be getting out of that fire first.

With that said, I hope it's an enjoyable or, at the very least, a useful read.

You can remove yourself from drama but you can't stop people whispering lies in the shadows and manipulating others. I wish we could. : /

That's precisely why this guide teaches how to "jump in front of the news" and establish a few points of real talk. While it doesn't stop people from whispering lies, it restricts the amount of movements they can make with their lies, making it easier to manage overall. Much of that involves politely asking for a chance to talk it over and receiving no replies. From journalism experience, the audience is easily swayed when journalists write, "We reached out to ___ with this question and received no comments." It's nasty to be on the receiving end of it but in an aggressive drama de-escalation campaign, it can be used to force the other side to either communicate or lose reputation.

It's not a perfect solution but when it matters, it can often come through.

I really must thank you for writing this again. I actually ran into some drama there had been reoccurring over the past few months. While the offense was taken in part because of the other party, I remembered what advice you wrote in in terms of how to deal with someone when it is their fault. There are many things I wanted to say and being greedy and speak my mind, but I went with the option of giving absolutely nothing beyond courteous apathy before using the conversation killer “good luck on your projects. Good day.”

Did it work out for you?

It's a bit unfortunate that avoiding drama and having all due self-respect can sometimes be really mutually exclusive ^^; So sometimes I do pick and choose when to use my snark XD;;;

I'm a simple Internet denizen: I see drama, I click block.

That definitely works if you're going simple, but just blocking can be a dark fiscal death for people who need to maintain high public visibility to survive. XD;

i used to like to start drama and troll online from days long gone (i'd say 10 years ago).   I thought it was funny and cool when it honestly made me look more like an idiot than I already was lmao

I would post things made in macromedia/adobe flash intentionally to get people offended (although this was mostly on Newgrounds not dA). Truly Dismal days...

I'd like to think that I've learned a lot since then so i guess that's good

It's refreshing to hear someone admit to outgrowing bad behaviors like this. I think a lot of people could stand to be more honest with themselves like this.

For myself, I made sock puppet accounts on an RP forum and of course got caught pretty much immediately. It was humiliating but I learned a lot from the experience.
