Web hosting advice? Anyone? So, I've finally got my website almost ready to go live. The question is, where do I host it? There's so many web hosting sites out there I don't know where to start.
Price is paramount, since my artwork isn't currently making any money and I only have a part time job.
I am based in the Uk, and my domain is jenberry.co.uk. My website is written in PHP5.3 with a MySQL5.1 database and is currently only 160MiB in size although I'll need room to expand. I want it to be easy to synchronise the files on the website with any changes I make offline (using, for example, rsync), and it would be useful if they had the phpmyadmin tool.
I'd be grateful if anyone could share any advice or experience about finding web hosts.
What to do with premium membership? So I've just been given membership by :iconmeihua: for winnig the :iconbirds-club: contest (thanks a lot.)
Not to seem ungrateful, but I don't really know what to do with it. So I've added a sitback slideshow to my page, but other than that...

Auto resize? WTF?Art isn't just about the picture, the presentation and viewers experience is as much a part of art. Some pictures are best viewed small, like speed paints, and pictures where the whole matters. Some pictures are best viewed large, so that they fill the screen and draw the viewer into it. Some pictures are very long, such as tutorials, and comics, and the length should not be restricted.
!Give back the artist's power over their own art!
Here's an example of the problem:

Edit: hooray, DA redeem themselves. I knew we could count on them.
How should I reorganise my gallery?Currently my gallery is split into fantasy and non fantasy, and I don't think that adequately reflects my range of material, so I need to reorganise it to better sell myself. Is subject matter as important as medium or style? I'm beginning to think not. So I was thinking I should organise it into the following folders:
Pen pictures (the ones that are currently on sale, see previous journal entry)
Digital concept sketches
Traditional concept sketches
Commissions and gift art
Where the last two overlap with the previous.
But then if I'm going to have overlapping categories, why not have ones for animals, and fantasy as well? But I think its best to keep them to a minimum. What do you think?
Pen commission sale: half price for one week onlyOk, so I'd like to get some commissions, and since I'm jobless at the moment I feel my time isn't worth so much, hence I can offer you commissions at almost half the price! How good is that? Sale lasts one week, so the closing date for requests is Wednesday 10th March. (This deadline may be extended or reduced depending on interest.)
The sale is on my pen work of animals which normally costs £25-£35 (+p&p), I will now do them for £15-£20, so this is a great time to get a portrait of your pet or just your favorite animal. The sale also includes my photoshop black & white sketches, normally £40 http://nunt.deviantart.com/art/Demon-queen-155280262 I will now do them for £20 and they aren't restricted to animals.
Examples of pen work:
Monochrome A4, normally £25, now £15.

1 artwork per dayHi all, since I'm jobless and therefore have free time, I've set myself the challenge of doing one piece of artwork per day. I'm currently in my third week and although I've missed some days out, I did manage to do 7 each week. I will be uploading them to my scraps unless there's a particularly good one.
I've mostly been working on drawing faces, but there is other stuff too
week 1: http://nunt.deviantart.com/art/1-artwork-per-day-week-1-154460294
week 2: http://nunt.deviantart.com/art/1-artwork-per-day-week-2-154978945

week 4: http://nunt.deviantart.com/art/One-artwork-per-day-week-4-156518186
can anyone tell me how thumbnails work? Do you have to have a subscription or something?
New photography account: photonuntI thought my photos were cluttering up my DA space a bit, so I decided to make a separate account for them photonunt.deviantart.com . I will soon be deleting all my photos from this account, I apologise to those of you who have favorited them n stuff but it is better this way.
GraduationI thought you might all like to know that I have now graduated from Cambridge University with a BA honors in zoology, grade 2.1. It is everything I was hoping for so I am happy. Going to Cambridge, it's easy to lose perspective, but I realize that I have a very good degree from one of the top universities in the country, if not the world. I have enjoyed my time there a lot, and am very sad to be leaving all those wonderful people I've met and called friend. You can't get rid of me so easily though, I'll be back next month for those of you still there in the holidays, and I'll be visiting next year, especially since my boyfriend will still be there doing his fourth year. As for my plans, I'm doing several voluntary research assistant placements, one in Cambridge in July, one in Spain in September, and one in South Africa in October and November. So I'm rather exited, and rather busy. But despite this, I will probably still have more time than I did at university, so in theory I'll get s

Update from DD-Catalogue FounderDear All,
Thank you for 'watching' DD-Catalogue, and for all your support over the last 4 years. You may have noticed that the group has recently lost super group status. I'd like to apologise for the disruption this has caused to our Gallery and homepage. I'd also like to apologise for the lack of updates and features recently. I have neglected the group somewhat during my university study.
...but I'm planning a revamp to make it better than ever!
I would appreciate it if you could give me some feedback in the comments on some of the following:
What do you like most about DD-Catalogue?
What would you like to see from DD-Catalogue? (features/interviews/polls ??)
Would you donate a small amount towards Super Group status?
Would you like to be on the admin team?
Thanks for reading,
Add this Journal to your 'favourites' if we have your support in bringing DD-Catalogue back to life!
DeviantArt, deviantART and Lots of Things TooWe're going to be DeviantArt, officially. But you can always call us deviantART. You'll get to be retro, and that's always... well, retro! This goes for DA and dA, too.
It was nice to see Moonbeam13 and starvingartist today in Toronto. We got some lunch. Then 'Beam was nice enough to drive me to the airport with Rob. Rob! Happy Birthday Moonbeam!
I'm in the sky eating a banana at the moment. I wonder what monkeys would make of me eating a banana at 30,000 feet. Let alone journaling on DA from here.
I was in Toronto visiting Autodesk, and the teams behind Sketchbook and Pixlr and other awesome apps they have. What wonderful people. I really enjoyed seeing what they're up to, it's all very exciting.
I've been hanging out on #devart on dAmn today, and I asked Pickley to pull together all the best scripts and projects out there that improve dAmn. This way DA can consider buying the code, interfaces, etc. and

July Commissions!Important to Commissioners
Hi everyone! To all my commissioners, please tell me if you wish to be contacted here, your email or some other way you feel it's more comfortable. I'm still awaiting an answer for many design approaches and that is delaying the work schedule. If there are sudden changes like leaving on vacations or need to postpone the project please feel free to tell me.
Remember that if I don't get an answer after 7 days I send the last design approach I consider the project abandoned.
My commissions are always open, I just ask you to be patient because I work on them as ideas come by. I try to finish them as fast as I can but I give priority to quality over speed.
Those interested please read this:

Wyngro RULES -- Quick GuideKnowing what behavior is and isn't allowed in our group is a very important part of being a Wyngro member! Make sure you read through these rules carefully. Ignoring the rules of the group can result in a warning if you break them too many times!
Our rules are also much more elaborated on our RULES & ETTIQUETTE page as well, so please have a look!
The Wyngro community has a lot of rules to remember, so you might get a mod message every now and then. That’s okay! You’re not a “bad member”, so don’t worry. However, if you do, make sure you reply back to your mod message and DO NOT ignore it! Sometimes we’re simply reminding you of things for the future. All you have to do is reply back, letting us know you understand.

★RULES AND INFO★
Happy 3rd Anniversary, Wyngro!Well, we got through year 3 of Wyngro everyone! I can’t tell you all how proud I am of all the artists that have joined this group in that amount of time, and how much you’ve all helped it grow. I’ve learned so much from this group, working with people, communication skills, organizing, art in general, (especially have gotten a lot better at color theory!) and just meeting and getting to know an assortment of interesting people.
I’m not gonna lie, there were a lot of really tough obstacles this year to get past, a lot of negative vibes, and a lot of people that have come and gone. I think that it’s a very easy option for a lot of leaders to abandon a project when things get tough and relationships get tested.
But like the cornball I am, I always think back to a quote from good old Dumbledore, where sometimes we must choose between what is easy and what is right.
Although it wasn’t easy, I worked through the struggles of toxic people and negativity, b
