Slimy minions that resembled sick Goomies and Sliggoos stood motionless in the infested pond, close to the edge where a small group of them stood by. There was a small Ralts named Serene hiding behind a bush with a wooden bow hanging by her shoulder as she looked around for her partner. She had taken up the mission to test some moves on some blank ‘marshoids’. She was told that they were harmless due to the pond being disconnected from the rest of the contaminated swamp, but Serene couldn’t help but worry about Sarah regardless as she watched the Goomy zoom around.
Speaking of Sarah, she was clearly enjoying speeding around all of the inert marshoids, making silly faces in front of them. “Bleleleleleh!” she called out in front of one, before letting out childish laughter. “What were we doing again, Serene?!” Sarah called out, turning back to the Ralts.
“Ack, Sarah stay away from them.” Serene warned, worried that the infested marshoids might suddenly attack Sarah, even though they remained inert. The Ralts picked up a pebble, throwing it at the closest marshoid, watching it harmlessly sink down its body. “We’re supposed to test for their weakness.”
“Oh, right!” Sarah called out, letting out laughter, before taking a breath in. She then released the built in air which bursted out as a set of bubbles. They knocked against the marshoid rapidly until it exploded right in front of her!
Serene watched the attack and shrugged at the results. “Water is okay against them…” She took out her bow, pulling its string back as she focused her psychic abilities to create a pink glowing arrow. She took aim, pulling the bow back before releasing the psychic arrow! The marshoid it hit exploded instantly, its goop flung back a few feet. “Well, that seemed to work~”
“Woah!” Sarah rushed up to where the marshoid used to stand, before turning back to Serene. “Awesome!” she called out excitedly, spinning on the spot. “My turn!” She then rushed to another creature, crawling over the Goomy-lookalike to absorb its nutrients. As Serene had been told many times, Grass-Type moves like Absorb aren’t very effective against this goop, and Sarah demonstrated such here.
“Sarah, it’s not very effective.” Serene informed the slime before running up to Sarah and stared at the marshoid. So far she made a mental note that her psychic abilities seemed to be super effective. She then looked down to the bow before shrugging. “Might as well try it”. She then lifted her arms up above her head, before smacking the bow against it as fierce as she could, her reward being her bow getting stuck in its disgusting body. “Oh come on.”
“Give it back!” Sarah yelled out, taking a breath in before blasting out at the creature, blasting it apart once again, bow dropping to the ground. “They gave it back! Yay!”
Serene shivered at the slimy infested goop that coated her bow. “Yes, they did. Good job~” The Ralts giggled, wiping the marshoid’s slime off herself before petting Sarah, her hand getting covered in slime anyways. “Hm, Sarah try something else on them~”
Sarah puffed up her chest, and then began slowly melting on the spot. “Take that, you lookalikes!”
“Uhh, Sarah? What are you doing?” The Ralts raised an eyebrow as she watched the Goomy melt down, unsure of what she was doing.
“Oh right, that does nothing to you!” Sarah laughed, wobbling her head about. “That’s good! I think.”
Serene let out a giggle, shaking her head before looking back up to the Marshoids, thinking. “What else would work?”
Serene glanced over behind herself to the sight of a figure nearby that was stalking one of the inactive marshoids nearby. It was a Riolu dressed in an odd outfit that covered most of his body, including his face. He had some sort of weapon in his grip, swinging it around fiercely, grunting from some of the more extreme movements.
He stopped to get a good breath in, his weapon clearly a Honedge. It said nothing, but its eye was looking around constantly, soon focusing on Sarah.
“Hi there!” she yelled out. The Riolu swung around without hesitation, swinging the honedge down towards the Goomy! She was a few metres away, so it thankfully didn’t reach her. “Are you in a play?! Can you show us some awesome trick?!”
The Riolu stood up into a straight posture, eyeing the Goomy. “Stay away from me, you look just like these marshoids.”
“Are you in a play?! Show me!” Sarah yelled out, getting closer, a big grin on her face.
“I said back off,” the Riolu repeated, irritation at having to repeat himself.
Serene came running up, putting a hand on top of the Goomy. "Hey, Sarah. Come on girl, don't bother other people." Serene came over and tried to bring Sarah away from the enigmatic figure. "I'm very sorry for disturbing you."
He let out a simple huff before turning back to the inert marshoids, back to cutting them down.
""Let's leave the man alone and focus in our own place. Okay~?" Serene grinned, trying to get Sarah's attention with a high-five.
Sarah looked up to Serene’s hand, taking in a deep breath before blowing out a singular bubble, which popped against Serene’s hand.
That pop sent a sharp pain to Serene's palm, making her wince slightly at the sudden pain before pulling her hand back, rubbing it gingerly as she chuckled softly. "Okay... remind me not to do that again."
“Sure thing!” Sarah yelled out, turning around to watch the Riolu and Honedge cutting down the marshoids.
The Riolu turned around to face the Goomy and Ralts, his expression hidden behind the mask he doned on his face. "You two, leave me alone or you two might get caught in my attacks by accident."
"Yes, I'm so sorry for the both of us interrupting you." Serene nodded, pulling Sarah back as she could tell the Riolu did not seem to fancy a talk or company anytime soon.
"Come Sarah... Let's see what we could try out on these slimy… things," The Ralts said, bringing the Goomy over to their plot of swamp where a couple other marshoids lay. "Try using Water Dance? Might make them melt faster."
Sarah’s face lit up in pure joy, and without hesitation she began dancing on the spot, heavy rain clouds coming in as she spun round and round. Unlike their previous trip to Geoda the swamp is a far better place for rain, and as such the rain rapidly became quite a heavy downpour.
The creatures didn’t melt away from the heavy downpour, in fact the sickly goop was actually starting to spread! “Yay! It’s working!” Sarah cried out obliviously, still dancing.
Serene watched the goop spread out and turned to Sarah. “I think we should get out, it’s not good for you to absorb all that yucky stuff in you.” She warned, gesturing for Sarah to come over to dry land.
“But the raaaiiin!” Sarah cried out, the yellow sickly goop spreading closer towards Serene. “I want to stay in the rain!”
“You can make more rain over there~” Serene said sweetly in an attempt at encouraging the Goomy to follow her. “Come on, let’s-”
“Uuuuaaarrrggghhh!!!” Behind Sarah, one of the creatures began moving, crying out as it slowly began waddling towards Serene. As did the others, one by one.
“Serene? What’s happening?” was the Goomy’s question as the gunk spread, even covering her a little bit. As she moved, her body kept taking in the fresh, clean water, managing to kick out the sickly gunk from her body.
One of the marshoids was making its way to Serene, its body spreading out the sick gunk quicker than the rest. Serene focused her psychic energy, causing the marshoid to implode on itself. More marshoids joined in, making their way towards her. “They’re attacking me!” Serene called out, panicking as she fought off marshoid after marshoid, soon getting overwhelmed.
Sarah began rushing ahead, crying out. “Serene, I’ll save you!” She cried, moving as fast as she could. As she passed by the creatures, none of them seemed interested in attacking the goop-covered Goomy.
“Aether!” A glimpse of light caught Serene’s eye, the Honedge hovering up in the air. The Riolu leapt towards her, extending his hand just as the Honedge came crashing down and neatly catching it. Then he landed on top of one of the marshoids, cutting it in half. Without hesitation he began rapidly slicing down the rest of the marshoids, all of them gone before Serene could blink. “Take your weird slime and go!” he commanded, before turning around to the horde of Marshoids.
Serene nodded, grabbing onto Sarah and turning around to run. “Come, let’s go and hide. We’ll return later.” She said quickly, running to nearest bush and looked back to see of the slimes were still coming, letting out a sigh of relief as the Riolu was getting back-up in the form of a Sylveon and a Mienfoo.
“I don’t want to hide! Something’s happening!” Sarah yelled out, the gunk washing off of herself as the rain gushed down on the duo. The other creatures took note of Sarah’s loud voice, and began following after the duo.
“Sarah. Shhh, be quiet and let’s play hide and seek.” She said to the Goomy once she got some distance in between them and the Marshoids. “They’re seekers so let’s hide together okay~?”
“I don’t think they’re playing!” Sarah called out, looking back to the Marshoids, slowly growling out as they waddled along, until they stopped all of a sudden. They wouldn’t go beyond that of the goop, and the rain was finally starting to die down. “Did I do something wrong?”
“Oh? They’re… hah... not chasing?” Serene panted softly, making sure to have Sarah close by as she slowly approached the creatures while keeping a good bit of distance away. “I think... they can’t get out and attack here.”
“Yay!” Sarah yelled out cheerfully, watching the creatures slowly inch forward as the goop spread along the waters. “You can’t beat us! Bleleleleleleh!” Once again she was making faces at them.
Serene was still panting from the run, looking up to see the harsh rain dying back down, before looking back to the swarm of impatient Marshoids. She then looked down to Sarah, sitting down to pet the ball of slime. “Sarah…” she hesitated, not wanting to upset the poor Goomy. She shook her head before taking a breath in - someone would tell her either way. “You… can’t summon the rain for a while, okay?”
Sarah looked up to Serene, her smile fading away. “But I love the rain!” She yelled out in a tone of defiance so unlike her usual cheery self, the small ball starting to shake. “I want to make rain and dance in it!”
“You can’t, Sarah,” Serene said, lowering her head.
“Why?!” Sarah called out. She waited for an answer, her small form slowly shrinking down as she didn’t get one. “Why can’t I summon rain?”
Serene bit her lower lip, taking a deep breath. “Because it helps that sickly gunk spread,” Serene said softly, watching to the pond of screeching creatures.
Sarah followed Serene’s line of sight, her body shaking. “I- I-” she was starting to tear up, struggling to think of what to say. “Okay…” she let out a deep sigh, looking down to the ground sadly.
Serene nodded, still petting Sarah. “Come on, we should tell the group what happened.” Serene watched the Goomy travel on ahead, wincing at her friend’s sadness.

Nice story I like the idea of Rain Dance actually spreading the diseased goo farther. You got Marth down pretty well too with him being all cold like that (sometimes people make him too talkative). Thanks for the cameo
