This morning, Russia started the invasion of Ukraine. I currently stay in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and I am 1,000% confident that our army and allies will protect us from Putin's aggression. However, it is still possible that we the civilians will be evacuated to another place, and I might not be able to respond during the next few days. I keep calm and I hope for the best, but I cannot predict what my life will be like in literally the next few hours. I felt like I needed to brush up on my base-making skills after such a long break, so I took one of my old bases from 2016 and redrew it. Well... [DEVIATION] As I was working on this drawing, I felt like I was creating pretty much the same pose. But when I looked at the side-by-side comparison, I realized the difference is actually huge. And I love it! I think that over the years, I found a way to make emotions more readable — not only through facial expressions, but also through the overall gesture and body language. I truly believe that’s one of the most important things in visual art, regardless of the genre: if the viewer understands the emotion instantly, the character truly comes to life.
