My alley by ntora My alley by ntora
I hesitated adding this one since there are thousands of photos of alleys form all over the place, some better and some worse than this, and most not much different at all.
But, oh well, here is my version of an alley I came accross (Malta, April 2005).

Malta's castle is full of narrow and long alleys where the sun squeezes in enhancing that elongated feeling even more...
Thanks :D

there may be a a lot of "alley photos" but i think this one is one the best:
-very warm colors
-awesome lighting
-perfect angle (leads your eye directly to the end of the alley...)

Some of the most beautiful streets I saw were taken by my Russian collegue who went to Cyprus with her hubbie and the streets were just amazing with grapes hanging down all over.. :)

This photo takes merit with the beautiful sunlight...

We dont have this small alleys in germany, well we have but
you hardly find them. I like the southern tough of the photo
because of the warm colour and scenery. Its a small bummer
that the sky burned out. Did you try to separate the sky to a
single layer and work a bit on it to bring out a bit of its structure
colour? Could be an idea.

oh... yes definatelly as a photmanip... some overly-processed pics of mine should porbably be there too but I think of PS as my darkroom and as long as the neg is intact the rest is photo (that is not always correct) you are right (again)
thanks

Thats a difficult question. Speaking in terms of a certain moral i would say, do it as
long as you sign your picture as a photo manip. Speaking in terms of a getting a good
picture without any moral concerns i would say do so, but dont tell anyone ;)

Its up to you!

Not common here! . . . I take amazingly beautiful beaches for granted. We have them everywhere. Other people often think Wow!

Everyone has to take an alley pic! :D
Maybe are missing criative to most of photographers.
Almost alley's photos are missing some distinct detail. Don't you think so?

Well I tok this one as a tourist passing by Maltas beautiful castles. Then I kinda liked it so here it is. Each alley has its own feeling, mine is gold and warm, I think.
Oh well I thought it is not bad so here it is:D

As I said to others, this is a common view here in greece but it seems exotic to others so it will remain in my gallery!
Thanks

I love the different textures - the stone, the light, the emptiness.
Better than the average alley shot...

thank you. I liked the little lamp shining in the derk side of the wall breaking appart the blackness accumulating there.
I am glad you consider it above average!

It's not just the lamp - but that dark area of wall is not just balck like most pictures - there is still something there to see (apart from the lamp).
If there is one criticism, it's the sky, but a very bright sky and a fairly dark alley............you can't really adjust the colour of the sky without making it too obvious can you?

wel I had to crop the sun out...
I shall work on it and let you know my friend... have to go back to the original but I fear the sky is burnt there...
thanks though

No, perhaps criticism was the wrong word.....

It's just a shame we can't always capture both extreme light and dark in the same shot.

If you can bring the sky back - fair enough....
