I should photograph my shells too. :)
NTamura's avatar
Oh, you have a shell collection?
Michelle56's avatar
I have a lot... marble cone being my favourite of mine. :)
NTamura's avatar
Do you have Thatcheria mirabilis?
Michelle56's avatar
I had to look that one up. Sadly, no... it's beautiful, though!

I mostly have shells from Florida and various shops.

And I see a typo, I meant marbled, not marble.

Yeah, marbled cones are beautiful. I have one two... Love very much the cowries too...From Florida, you must have a Busycon contrarium (Lightning whelk)?
Michelle56's avatar
Yep. I have some lightning whelks. From what I can ID, I have: Florida Worm Shell (I think); Common Atlantic Slipper Shell; Blood-mouth Conch; Arthritic Spider Conch; Atlantic Shark Eye; Friend's Cowerie (I think... I have my name carved into it); Snake-head Cowrie; Scotch Bonnet; Radix Murex; Endive Murex; Lightning Whelk; Marlinspike and West Indian Turkey Wing...

I have some many, some of them I can't even ID. I need more books on shells.

Post their pictures on dA, FB or elsewhere with where they were found and you'll find people that can ID them for you... This is how I got the name of some of my insects and arachnids...
