They're always so cute. This one looks like a chicken. I find the development of wings and the shrinking of the scary claw fascinating myself :)

This one should fit in your backyard...

Do they lay eggs? Can I get a couple of them instead of chickens? :)
NTamura's avatar
Yes, they do lay eggs. You'll need to incubate them though...

They don't sit on their own eggs?
NTamura's avatar
Yes, but you need to start with either an egg or a couple of Mahakala. I just thought you've opted to start with an egg...

Just an egg would definitely need incubation. And maybe a hand-reared Mahakala wouldn't eat my cats and dog. Might be a nice project for the kids too ;)

Dude, that is awesome. Are you putting this on Wiki? I was waiting for you to sort of do a correction to your older Mahakala but this is way cooler! I love that you ramped up the kiwi-factor in the feathers. I always thought the Kiwi analogy was the way to go with interpreting the tiny arms on this guy, rather than them being primitive for deinonychosaurs.

Thanks! I had this on my to-do list for quite a while now (apologies). Will put this on wiki...
