The Story Revolves around the coming of age sci-fi Adventures of AJALA STORM a twelve year old junior agent for a C.S.C., a covert group who operate out of franchise of community centers across the United States. The C.S.C. has been safeguarding communities for so long, and the C.S.C. currently finds themselves in a new sort of conflict. For several decades a long struggle has been waged against a group called The Quo who is determined to hold back the evolution of the urban communities through vices, crime and ignorance. AJALA is introduced to the covert world of the C.S.C. when she uncovers her mother’s past and discovers when she was once a junior agent. AJALA is plunged into the C.S.C. as an agent in training that is sent out to ensure community safety. Through her lessons as a junior agent and her everyday life as a normal school student, AJALA will be leading a new life of adventure and discovery, and helping to protect her community from ruin.

Hello! I heard you are a conceptual artist and that you even worked for Rockstar no less! I am currently studying in 3D Animation (we do not only learn animation but also all kinds of artistic jobs in the industry) and I have taken a special interest in the conceptual artist domain. I'd love to make concept art for a video game company, eventually.
I would like to know, in your opinion, what does it take to be a good conceptual artist?

I really am unable to tackle that question with any authority. I was chosen for the job based on my storyboard skills for print ads and TV commercials.  Someone I worked with at an ad agency moved on to Rockstar and suggested me for a job. That job didn't happen. But a year later they called me after I was making my rounds (sending e-mails advertising my services) to get work.  In my particular experience with the jobs I worked on at Rockstar, the characters were already developed.  I just provided ideas in sketch form for compositions for screenshots, posters, and game covers.  That took listening to what the client wanted, taking notes, pushing the boundaries in designing a composition.  They really liked my compositions and I seemed to be one the few people that could draw, and draw at many angles from my head .  I hate to say that because it sounds like I am hyping myself up.  Now I do use reference.  Especially since the 2 jobs I worked on were time pieces in Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire.  I am just not a slave to reference, which I encourage you to be whenever possible.  Use it but don't lose your confidence, or freeze up if it's not around.  I say this in reference to human figure primarily.  So build up your reference library and take life drawing classes to build up the muscle memory in your mind so that you can do what I just mentioned.  Now with image searches, gathering reference is much easier.  I keep reference files in the same folders as the job I was working. Some people organize reference according to category. Do whatever works. Also continue to have a vivd imagination and do whatever speaks to you that feeds your imagination.  Does that help, or did I stray way off topic?

No, I found it pretty useful. I envy you for working on Red Dead, it is such a wonderful game. I live in Quebec, Canada so I'll try to aim for Ubisoft Montreal or something.
As I go through my classes, it seems that there is so much to know I'll never be able to learn everything but I guess when it comes to art, there is no maximum skill, you always get better. I'm not done with school yet but so far, concept artist it the thing that speaks to me the most. It can never hurt to ask for advice from professionals.
