Nsio Pose Practice 15: Literally Warming Up by Nsio Nsio Pose Practice 15: Literally Warming Up by Nsio
It's been a while from my last upload and there haven't been many to begin with. I've been so busy at work that I have had hard time to muster enough energy to draw anything. When I don't draw much, I also get rusty and it gets even harder to get back to action. If I know I can't dedicate as much time on drawing as I would want to, then I don't bother to shed the rust off, because I would just get rusty again few days later.

But despite having rather rough time, I decided to try drawing something anyway. This pose practice is literally for "warming up", so sun bathing at beach is fitting both seasonally and figuratively. This is already 15th pose practice in the series, although there are some unfinished/failed attemps, so technically we are closer to 20th. Sincce this is for warming up, I kept this short. To compensate that, there are more than one character in each scene and each viewing angles are different and rather peculiar.

Anyway, to explain what's happening in each scene:
1. Sayaka and Kohana are sun bathing. It's not like they are hanging out together as friends, they merely have the same profession as models.
2. View from behind. Something isn't quite alright, hence Kohana's "speech bubble"
3. Kohana finally speaks up her mind and no wonder, because Sayaka's sister Sachiko is actually with them, buried in sand! She isn't amused. Sayaka explains the shenanigans behind Sachiko's situation.
4. Since Sachiko is energetic by nature, she has hard time accepting her decreasing ability to move freely while pregnant. Therefore she becomes even more active which isn't for her best interests. So her husband Tsuneo came up with an idea of burying her in sand, to lure Sachiko into a state where she is rendered immobile. Sachiko realizes she has been tricked, but way too late. Her belly coupled with carefully compressed sand effectively traps her in. But alas, little does Tsuneo know that he will have hard time coping with her pent-up energy later...

It's not like Tsuneo doesn't like her wife's energetic nature, he is just worried about her doing something absurdly crazy. She is known to run off to do crazy stuff while pregnant, such as going to nude modelling (which ended up her going into labor in Nsio Pose Practice 2: Morisawa Sachiko ).

And let's face it, she looks a bit too provocative in her swimsuit as seen on Sachiko and Tsuneo at the beach!

Considering how rusty I was, I was happy to be able to draw rather challenging viewing angles and a pose I normally don't draw (sitting pose). I have difficulties with drawing the back bending "inwards", while the kind of behind "outwards" seen on Kohana's body is relatively easy for me (I have draw the back that way so many times).

Wow I love your art style, and your anatomy choices! Sayaka is stupidly cute, her thighs are twice as big as Kohana's when sitting down!

Wow, I almost didn't recognize Sayaka, she looks older in this image than usual seems so tanned, especially compared to Kohana. Kohana definitely looks nice too though.

can we please get some more tsuneo and Sachiko practices? They are so gosh darn adorable! Besides, he really needs to spend some time with his babies and wife more often.

Gotta think about it. It's just difficult to draw male characters and when we add babies in, there are a lot to draw per scene.

I don't think it's a good idea to bury a pregnant woman up to her neck in sand.

I didn't except Kohana and Sayaka could get along... somewhat. I except them to hate each other...
Sayaka got a nice tan.
At least, this time, all of them are relaxed.

I hope she isn't at 9th month, or things may get really bad.

I don't think there is actual hatred between the two, they just have different personalities. Kohana is realist and cold while Sayaka is dreamer and soft by nature.

I'm sure they are well informed of her state, they wouldn't let her go to beach if she was close to her due date :D

I don't think I'll ever get sick of seeing Koh, she's my kind of people. =P I know you don't often throw much in the way of speech into these things, but it is refreshing to see it, and I love the amount of personality you've managed to put into their few lines through wording and mode of speech. It compliments the posing and expressions excellently.

Glad to see you are finding some time to draw. Out of curiosity, with that statement on getting rusty in mind, are these practises something you prefer to do all in one hit, or is it something you're able to walk away from and come back to easily? I mean, even if you only get half an hour a day is it enough to prevent the rust accumulating?

Oh, and I hear you on that "inwards" bend pose. It's a difficult one to execute, and get to look good/right as its somewhat the opposite of much of how we're taught regarding how the human looks best posed.

Yea, I think speech bubbles were important to deliver the message and they work in unison with their personalities. It adds nice layer to the whole set.

I need to be able to dedicate several hours per day and several days on week just on drawing, otherwise it's not worth the trouble. Drawing just half an hour a day would mean fighting the rust all the time. Shedding the rust off is a long process and once things start to go smoothly, I need to keep pace for a while, otherwise the effect won't last. Once I've been drawing a while, I can usually take 1 week pause without ill-effects. I managed to draw this surprisingly well, probably because I was highly motivated to draw this and I had very clear idea in mind what to draw.

A break of one day can already ruin everything if I don't draw anything on the next day. I have board game session on every Thursday and while I like being there, it's a huge risk drawing-wise. I often visit my parents on weekends, so on Friday I travel by train and I tend not to draw that evening if I could. If I don't draw on Saturday, I won't draw on Sunday because I need to get back to my place. That said, there is a risk of having a break of 4 days, so unless I'm properly warmed up, it won't be worth the trouble to shed the rust off in the first place.

Not to sound pervy or anything but. As a fan of your artwork, would love to see more Preggo Sachiko. You draw her so well, a perfect mix of cute, beautiful, and of course sexy. Her nude modelling was really beautiful/tasteful to say the least. I say well done good sir, well done ^_^.

Well challenge or not, you still manage to achieve the beautiful/tasteful execution so far. Totally looking forward to the next pics with her. Also if I may pose a challenge to you, ever thought about having her baby/babies give her some good ol kicks X)?

Well I ask that cause I wanna give it a try myself but I don't wanna rip off of others or be accused of "stealing". How do you come up with stuff like this without "copying" from others?

I construct everything from scratch without looking what others do. It takes some practice and well, I've been doing exactly that for over 10 years already. I understand how human body ought to behave. I also tend to use viewing angles and perspectives that aren't widely used by others.

So tracing and heavily referencing something is a big no no then? Okay I'll do my best to avoid that.

Tracing and referencing serves different purpose. Tracing trains accuracy while referencing trains observation.

Drawing from memory trains imagination, though in order to do that you first need to observe references a lot, otherwise you don't any reliable memories to lean on.

Out of your artworks I've seen, Kohana always gets my attention. She makes me think of a less friendly Otome from DeSu 2. Funnily enough, her daughter is named Koharu (she looks nothing like Kohana, tho).
That being said, these poses indeed look quite challenging just looking at them.
I originally thought your work involved a lot of drawing! I'm half surprised and half feel bad that you can't always draw as much as you would like too.
Stay strong and godspeed, both with the work and the drawings!

My work as an architect doesn't involve much of free hand drawing. CAD drawing is more about manipulating construction components around. I hope I will get some more time to draw this kind of works. Thanks!
