Description
I'm excited to introduced NRG's newest and most sexiest superhero team- Good Girl and Bad Girl, a polar opposite dynamic duo-team who are charged within the superhero community to take a more active approach against the Think Tank and Unknown Circle!
ORIGIN
As the Think Tank and the Unknown Circle became increasingly proactive in their pursuits of global domination through science or magic respectfully, the superhero council known as the Experts decided that a more active stance against the organizations was needed to halt their efforts of domination and hopefully bring down both parties once and for all. With many of the superhero Experts busy with their own personal superhero duties, the committee agree to hand pick and assign one representative of their choice to act on the Experts’ behalf in bringing down the Think Tank and Unknown Circle. The chosen representatives of both the scientific and magical superhero communities were Doctor Betty Dave and Olivia Page, child of Desdemonia. The Prime example of polar opposites in personality, backgrounds and expertise, this “good girl” and “bad girl” team nevertheless proved to be an inseparable and unstoppable fighting force, both driven by their shared devotion to preventing the loss of lives due to the irresponsible abuse of scientific and magical powers by the members of the Think Tank and Unknown Circle. Forming an unbreakable friendship that some say could blossom into something more, the duo thwarts evil wherever they go, and look damn good doing it too!
So, since you are all comic book fans, I'm pretty sure ya'll are familiar with the term "Good Girl Pinup" or "Bad Girl Pinup", which is a term coined by comic artist and fans for comic and book covers that feature extremely attractive, pinup-esque female protagonists. NRG is too, and a while back I had one of my inspirational moments where I thought to myself "you know, this concept or trope would make for a fun superhero series". And I had this fun idea for a story where the protagonists in the story were obviously superhero incarnations of Good and Bad Cover Girls who go around fighting crime in a super fun, National Lampoon buddy-comedy style adventures. I had been visiting the idea on and off again for a while now, trying to figure out the right way I could bring this concept into the NRGVerse if possible. I ultimately found a way when I discovered that most Good Girl and Bad Girl pinup covers focused on science fiction and dark-fantasy respectively, and to me that seemed like a cool way to create two fun, sexy superheroes who take a more active stance against the Think Tank and Unknown Circle, which as you all know by this point are NRG's premier supervillains organization specializing in science and magic respectively. Also, I'm mentioned another team in the origins of Good Girl and Bad Girl- "The Experts". I'll reveal more later, but for now let's just say they're a council many NRG Superheroes each with a specialty they are expert on in the fields of science and magic, amongst others.
So yeah, both girls are superheroes whom obviously represent their respective pinup origins- Good Girl represents the pinups of science fiction comics and magazines of long decades past, where as Bad Girl represents the iconic and occultic anti-heroines made popular in the 90s. In terms of characters they and their friendship is inspired by my favorite good girl/bad girl friendships I've loved in pop culture- notably DC's Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, Fire and Ice, and Raven and Starfire, Avatar's Azula and Ty Lee, 2 Broke Girls' Max and Caroline, Marvel's Karolina Dean and Nico Minoru, Disney's Kim Possible and Shego; you see where I'm going with this right? They're designs and characters are meant to contrast and balance each other- Good Girl is the brains, focusing on fighting evil through technology and gadgets while maintaining an extremely peppy and girly-girl personality, where as Bad Girl is the brains focusing on fighting evil through sorcery and combat and is the snarky, ball-buster of the duo. Want to give a huge shout out to our artist @NeonRockingVisuals who designed Good Girl and Bad Girl for us.
One more fun thing- their names, "Betty Dave" and "Olivia Page" are meant to be references to pinup model Bettie Page and pinup artist Olivia de Bernardinis and Dave Stevens.
