Season 2 ~ Episode1:  A Father's Love

"So you see, young trainer, it all came down to this. I can feel that you have much love and respect for your pokemon, as do I. Thus, it was a contest of skill and experience, and there are few in this world who have more experience then I..." The old trainer said. He had battled his way to the top of this tournement, matching Jackson's steps as though he had planned them himself. And now here he was, squaring off against the Rocket Exec... "Your dark pokemon are barely a match for my warriors..." he said, as he pulled another pokeball from out of his sleeve and expanded it. The tournement had been four on four. Two of Jackson's pokemon had fallen to the long bearded Sage's first pokemon, before Mason, the houndoom, had managed to beat it back...
Then, a Lucario had provided a hard struggle for the dark fire type, but he had barely managed to come out on top. Now, standing weakly, he was no doubt about to be finished off, leaving Jackson with one pokemon, and the Sage with two... "Now go, Gallade! Finish his last two pokemon, and this entire tournement!"
Mason growls defiantly as the Sage calls out his third pokemon, a proud gallade that emerges from the light kneeling on the ground.  He stands once he's fully materialized, assuming a fighting stance against the fire hound before dashing forward to do as his trainer commanded and finish the houndoom.  Being part psychic, he could pick up the attack in his trainer's mind without having to be told aloud...  Mason attempts to attack with shadow ball at Jackson's command but misses due to the gallade's expert evasion and speed.  His ribs are struck painfully with a jabbing attack moments later, making him howl weakly with the last of his energy to fight.
Mason goes down as his legs buckle beneath him, forcing him from the fight and leaving Jackson with only one pokemon left...
The undercover executive pauses after returning his houndoom, a slow smile creeping its way across his face, "Barely a match, huh?" he asks quietly, "You say that as if you know my enitre team inside and out, old man."  He tosses his head to throw the unruly golden bangs from his eyes before pulling his fourth and final poke ball from its clip.  It's encased in blue plastic, as if for a contest, and covered with dark grey seals to hide the signature of its developers, "But you've only seen three of them, so far...  And now I'm forced to play my trump card." he grins, tossing the ball up a short way and catching it before casting it to the ground in front of him, "Rise and take your turn, Zarian." he calls as the case bursts open and begins to billow thick towers of eerie, black fog...
"What is this!?" the robed Sage said, his eyes widening as the dark shape moved through the fog, his eye glowing brightly as he revealed himself. The crowd gasped loudly as they saw Zarian, his cloak fluttering in the breeze as he stood proud and tall, his arms crossed. Then, he spun, tossing his cloak off, (which was now more like a trenchcoat... Or perhaps a lab coat...), and letting it dissapear into the air as he gave a loud cry... "KRAI!!!" he roared, as the croud murrmered in amazment, and the Sage still stared... "What trickery is this??"
Jackson chuckles softly, absorbing the fear and amazement from his opponent and revelling in it, "No tricks.  Just my final ally in this fight.  Now, Zarian.  Why don't we show them your true power before we finish off this trainer?"
Zarian nods once, and as the crowd bubbles and murrmers, and the Sage looks temporarily off guard, Zarian lifts his claws. A ghostly aura begins to wrap itself around the Death legend, and his legs twist into the darkness that began to pour from his now skeletal body, as his eyes narrowed into the red pinpoints of light. Then, it was all covered by his dark cloak, and his sythe materalized in his hands... Someone screamed and a woman fainted...
"Do you fear death?" Jackson asks, narrowing his eyes at the Sage and his pokemon as he refocuses on the battle at hand.  The gallade takes a step back from Zarian, seeming unsettled by the appearance of the legend of death.  He glances back to his trainer, "Gallade..." he mutters, wanting his next command.  "Zarian, Dark Pulse."
"G-Gallade! Detect!" The Sage snaps, pulling his straw hat a bit further down about his eyes as Zarian spun his sythe and slammed in into the ground, sending out a powerful wave of negetive energy...
The gallade brings his arms up to shield himself against the wave, gritting his teeth as he feels the force of the wave strike him.  It pushes him back several feet towards his trainer but the protective shield holds...
"Shadow ball." Jackson states, giving the sage little time to react between turns.
Zarian conjures a circle of ghosts, one by one. Yes, he was showing off a little, but that was the fun part. He mereged the ghosts into a rather large shadow ball and tossed it as the Sage seemed to get his presence of mind back... "Gallade! Use High Jump Kick to dodge his attack!"
The gallade leaps into the air, barely grazing his foot against the overcharged ghost attack.  He winces slightly but ignores it, positioning himself to come down on Zarian with a powerful aerial kick...  "Dodge that...  and use shadow ball again."
Zarian was already gathering more ghostly energy, the frightening specters gathering at the tip of his sythe as he blinked out of exsistance  and appeared instantly in another place, then tossed the shadow ball...
The Sage knew that his Gallade could easily land on his feet, even after a high jump kick. But he wasn't sure if he could land and move in time to dodge the attack... "Gallade! Try to use reflect!"
The gallade crouches on the ground after his high jump, beginning to surround himself with an aura of light just as Zarian's attack strikes him, "Gal!" he shouts in pain, unable to complete the shield before being hit...
The Sage frowns and takes one step back as he says, "Gallade, x scissor if you can!" Zarian's eyes widen just a bit, as he raises his sythe in a slightly defensive posture...
"Use psychic to hold him back.  Dark pulse to attack." Jackson calls, noticing Zarian's defensive posture, as the gallade rushes forward, his arms crossed and ready to deliver his attack.
Zarian closed his eyes and lifted his sythe, gathering his negetive power once more as he slammed the Gallade hard with a Psychic knockback...
... making the gallade falter slightly in his charge.  This gives a brief opportunity to attack while the psychic fighter tries to gather himself once more.
Zarian takes advantge of this, and slams his sythe down onto the ground, sending out the wave os dark energy as the Sage watched a bit stoiclly, his Gallade falling to the ground... "Hm... Your new, unknown pokemon may be strong..." he said, as he returned his Gallade... "But my next pokemon has been with me since my beginings. He is as old, wise, adn experienced as me... Go, Hitmonlee." the Sage says, tossing out his pokeball as Zarian moved to stand in front of Jackson once again...
The hitmonlee appears from the light with his arms crossed, considering his opponents as he awaits orders from his trainer.  Jackson does the same, slipping his hands into his coat pockets, "Psychic is the obvious choice but I think we should try something a little different..."
Zarian turned his hooded head to look up at Jackson curiously, as the Sage, looking confident and nervous at the same time, crossed his arms... "Hitmonlee. Mediate and gain some energy while they make up their minds..."
"Your special move drains everyone but you, right?" Jackson asks to confirm as the hitmonlee closes his eyes to meditate and concentrate his energy.
"Indeed. It creates an atmosphere of no hope, draining power from any who stand before me..." Zarian said, in his distorted Death's voice, making sure the Sage couldn't hear. Indeed, his special move in his Death's form drained all pokemon on the field's power, and it would have drained his too, if it weren't for his special ability. His Graveyard Presence negated all detrimental stat changes, at the cost of making his ghostly body vunerable to psychic attacks...
"Let's do that, then.  I don't think we have to worry about many psychic attacks from this guy." Jackson replies, making sure to keep his voice down so the sage wouldn't hear them conversing.
"Yes sir..." he says, turning back to the battlefield as the Sage called to his pokemon... "Hitmonlee. Use your gathered power to hit this pokemon with a Fire Kick..." the old trainer was attempting to test the waters a bit, as Zarian closed his eyes and began to concetrate... This was a hard attack to execute... But dark power and halloweenish and frightening ghosts, skulls, and spirits began to surround him...
The hitmonlee opens his eyes to the frightening scene.  He's taken aback slightly but begins the attack, regardless.  He trots forward a few steps as his foot is engulfed in flame before balancing on one leg to deliver his kick...
Zarian took the attack, ignoring the pain as he lifted his sythe, then swiped it in the air, unleashing all the horrors of the underworld at once. Horrifying spirits rushed forward to engulf the Hitmonlee, the skulls biting, the ghosts attacking, the wayward spirits moving through his mind and trying to dismantle it. While thte phisical attack power was weak, the effect basically nullifyed that, as Zarian concentrated on keeping his portal open to maintain his attack to its full effectiveness, as the Sage shielded his eyes from the attack, barely able to handle it... "Hitmonlee!" he cried, fearfull for his pokemon...
The hitmonlee cries out, trying his best to resist the attack but feeling his will to go on draining quickly, "M-mon... Lee..." he mutters in response to his trainer.
When Zarian let his portal close and the ghosts return to the darkness of the afterlife, he leaned on his sythe to rest for a moment as he looked up at the kick pokemon. His skin was paler, an almost ashy grey now, and he looked downright sick... But it was the internal damage he'd caused that was the important part. The Death legend stood up straight once more, indicating he'd recovered...
The hitmonlee trembled slightly, trying to push himself back up to his feet.  He looks back to his trainer, "Hitmon... Mon lee..." he murmurs, shaken badly from the attack.  Jackson grins at the scene, waiting until Zarian recovers his energy before issuing his next command.  He wasn't cruel like most rockets were, after all... "Psychic to finish this."
The Sage looked flabberghasted, and is unable to do a thing as Zarian extends a claw and blasts the Hitmonlee with psychic, causing him to fall. As the Sage moved and knelt next to his pokemon, the announcer called, "The winner, with his stunning never before seen pokemon, is Jackson!" the crowd clapped and cheered and began to murrmer between one another as Zarian moved back to Jackson's side and regained his original form, replacing his cloak on himself as he floated up to be eye level with his trainer...
Jackson smiles, "Good job out there, Z.  You did well for it being your first public appearance.  I can't say I'm surprised, though, considering how well you've been doing in training." he says.
"Hm..." Zarian said, as the offical handed Jackson the prize money, and a ribbon for his pokemon... "I'm suprised you saw fit to display me in front of such a public crowd..." the Death legend replyed as he crossed his arms and ignored the staring public...
"I could've used someone else if you didn't want to be part of the team I used for the tourney." Jackson replies, quietly pocketing the money, "I thought you'd enjoy it."
"I did... The thrill of battle was one I enjoyed immensly..." he sighed quietly... "It... Well. All those fighting pokemon... They reminded me of something... How long has it been since I became part of your team, Jackson?" he asked, backing slightly into the shadows of a nearby team. Many people wanted a closer look at the new pokemon, but the officials wouldn't let anyone near...
Jackson begins to move away from the crowds, "Hmm...  About a year now since you came back." he replies, nodding, "Yeah.  Abby's pups are almost a year old and you came back about the time she had them."
"One whole year, hm...?" he asked, thinking back at everythinig that had happened in that long time since he was kicked out of his cave... A full year... He hadn't even realized the time went by so fast... "So... They would be almost a year old now..." he muttered a bit wistfully, as one of the officials walks away and places a call on her cell phone...
The executive chuckles softly, starting to unbutton his coat that covered his uniform.  It felt more comfortable when left open... "Hard to believe?" he asks, not quite realizing it had been that long either.  A full year of working undercover for Jack while still keeping his position as an executive within the Team Rocket organization...  It felt almost surreal...
"Yes... And unfortunate... Jackson, I need you to take me somehwere." he said, suddenly turning to his trainer. His visible eye was glimmering with sorrow and a bit of fear...
"Hmm?" the trainer hums, staring back into the legendary pokemon's eyes and seeing the odd mix of emotions.  He frowns slightly, they really should be getting back to base by now but Zarian rarely if ever asked for favors, "How far is it?" he asks, starting to make his way back outside of the event building.
"From here?" he turned for a moment, seeming to think... "Mm... An hour or more. But it is extremely important that I make it to where I need to go..." he'd never told Jackson about Lucaria... And he didn't really want to unless he had to. All he knew was he had forgotten his mate as he helped and grew in his friendship with his trainer, but the fighting types had brought her back to the forfront of his mind, and he realized they were close. Very close to the mountain where she would undoubtedly still be living...
"Alright." Jackson nods, "It'll have to be quick, though.  We're expected back at base by this evening." he replies, rounding the final corner that would lead outside into the open yard.  His coat hangs open, showing the black and red uniform underneath.  It wasn't an obvious display but would alert any specifically looking for a TR executive.  Jackson reaches for one of the poke balls on his belt, returning with a dusk ball to prepare for when they got outside.
"Hopefully it will be quick..." Zarian lied, as he reached his claw up and gently chewed on it... "We are going to a mountain with two peaks in the north..." he said, inticating the direction, "When we get there, I can teleport us to the top."
Jackson nods, tossing his head to the side as they emerge onto the square in front of the arena.  He throws the dusk ball above his head, calling out a large honchkrow into the air to circle before turning back to Zarian, "Are you flying alongside or returning?"
"I will return." he said, bowing slightly to Jackson, "It will be better for me to rest before we get there... I might need to be at full strength."
Jackson nods again, holding up Zarian's poke ball to deploy the red beam and return him to the capsule.  Afterward, he whistles to the circling crow pokemon to draw it closer.  Haze swoops low over the ground, landing lightly in front of his trainer and lowering a wing for Jackson.  He looks just large enough to support one passenger of average size, one passenger like Jackson and not an ounce more....  The executive grips the white mane of feathers around the dark pokemon's neck before it thrusts off the ground, heading toward the mountain peaks as Jackson instructs...
Meanwhile...
"You've failed to find a cave of your own yet again, dear brother?" Vivi asked. Her smirk was wide and a giggle was at the top of her throat as she watched her fellow Lukraio walk into the cave once again... "What a suprise..." she fiddled with the strng of beads about her neck as she watched him come in, her purple fur barely visible in the dim light of the cave...
Xixi growls softly at her as he storms past his sisters and deeper into the cave.  Kiki, standing nearby as she braids her hair, frowns at Vivi, "Leave him alone, Vivi.  At least he's trying."
"Perhpas he would have a better time of it if he weren't such a mopey puppy." she said, the giggle she'd been building up coming out now as she turned and walked over to where Vivi was... "Mother is still meditating, isn't she?"
Kiki nods, letting the braid fall from her hair again to brush her paw through it, "That's probably where Xixi's going, too." she says, smoothing out her purplish grey mane before gathering it up and beginning to braid it once more.  This time she leaves the weave in and ties it off with a small scrap of ribbon she'd found.
"Maybe we sho..." her ears perked as her "necklace", which was really just the vestule crest that she had gotten from her father, glowed slightly, indicating she felt something. She turned her blue, mew like eyes towards the cave entrance... "What is that...?" she asked, the aura she was sensing forcing her to remember feeling she hadn't had in a long time...
A rush of air whips past both lukraia females, producing Xixi by the entrance of the cave.  His eyes glow with the use of this aura powers as he scans the sky...  Kiki closes her eyes and places her palms together over her chest spike, "It's a human..." she states, provoking a snort from her brother, "I know that, already..." he growls, taking a few steps outside the cave.
"There was something else too." Kiki continues, "I remember it from a long time ago."
Vivi hissed softly as she followed her brother, her eyes glimmering as she gripped his shoulder gently... "What is that?" she asked softly... "I know I've felt it before, but... He... It..." she almost teared up as she felt the aura reaching into her heart, reminding her against her will of a time where she was cradled and loved and everything was perfect...
Kiki brightens up, dashing to follow her siblings to the mouth of the cave and even running outside a short way, "No way!  It's Daddy?!  He came back." she smiles, decidedly happier than the other two. "After he abandoned us." Xixi replies, his anger intensifying with the hurt that the loving emotions brought him, "He left us for another female after Mother kicked him out of the cave for cheating on her."
"Mother!" Vivi suddenly said, turning around to rush back into the cave... "She has to know he's coming back! Mother!!" she called. Normally, interupting or disturbing meditation was inviting your own death, but in this case, Vivi felt that an exception needed to be made... She burst into the meditation chamber, barely able to contain herself... "Mother!"
"I know..." Lucaria replies softly, seeming to still be in meditation but in actuality was fully aware.  She had felt the same soul tugging that the pups had, initially being the reason she'd snapped out of her meditation.  She hadn't rushed off because she could still remember that night almost one year ago...  The hurt and pain he'd brought her in revealling another love.  In telling her he loved another more...
"He... He'll..." she stopped and swallowed, her heart throbbing hard as finally a tear streaked down her muzzle and dripped off her nose... "He'll be here within the hour..."
Lucy's blood red eyes snap open in the inky darkness of her chamber, glowing out from her dark blue fur at this revelation, "What does he hope to prove by returning now?" she asks, almost to herself as she rises from the floor.  She dashes out of her chamber to join her puppies in the main room to watch the growing black speck in the sky, bringing with it the aura of Zarian...
Closer the dot grew over the next hour, gradually taking on the features of a honchkrow and revealling the white blotch of his human passenger as they angle toward the bottom of the mountain.  The longest hour for the lukraio family actually passed relatively quickly for the executive and his pokemon, landing like normal at the base of the mountain specified by Zarian.  Jackson dismounts his bird, recalling him and swapping capsules with Zarian's...
Zarian appeared, looking reinvigorated, but unfortunatly for the bad feelings he'd been getting. He looked up at the peak of the mountain, his eyes narrowing as he looked at it... "Would you like to stay here...? I'm not sure what is going to happen when I go up there..."
"I'll come along to the peak but I'll stay out of whatever you're going to do up there." Jackson replies, not wanting to be stuck waiting somewhere when he could go along just as easily...
Zarian nodded and snapped his claws, and suddenly they were up on the peak, just a few feet away from the entrance and a couple feet to the side, so Zarian would have to go around the corner to see inside the cave... "Well then..." he said, straightening his long cloak and making sure his hair didn't look to horrible, although he barely saw the point of that... "If I call for you, come right away if you want me to live. Otherwise, I'm sure I'll be okay on my own..." he said, as he began to float forward slowly...
Jackson nods and leans against the rock wall as he watches him hover away.  Almost immediately, Zarian is tackled by one of his daughters, "Daddy you came back!" she smiles, hugging his neck tightly in her excitement.
Zarian blinked rapidlly, completely caught off guard by this welcome, considering he'd been ready to fend off an assult when he first walked in. His eyes teared as he gently placed one paw about his daughter, unable to say anything for his suprise, as Vivi hid slightly behind her mother, (as per usual), and watched with wide, almost fearful eyes...
Xixi hangs back as well, not quite as eager about greeting their father as Kiki.  He watches carefully while she spins him around happily, "You must have so much to tell us!  Where have you been?  Mom and Xixi kept saying you left us but I didn't think you would do that and here you are you came back!  I knew you'd come back." she gushes.
"I always wanted to come back..." he finally said, in a voice that threatened to break at any moment... "But every time I had that thought, the pain of that night so long ago welled in my heart, and I knew that, for respect of the one I love, I couldn't return... Then... It just faded from my mind... Until today." he said, hugging her tightly still, wishing he could lift her and twirl her around like he did when she was young...
Kiki finally stops spinning around and merely smiles widely at him, "Does this mean you're back to stay now?" she asks hopefully, "I mean, Xixi's been trying to find a new cave and I've been thinking about it too but, I'd like to spend some time with you too.  You haven't been here since we were little little."
She fiddles with her braid absently, accidentally removing the ribbon that ties her hair at the bottom.
"I don't know, Kiki..." he said gently, as he looked up at the others... "Do you think your siblings and mother would want me here...?" he said, in an almost inaudible voice that somehow rang out and stung the hearts of everyone in the cave...
"Mmmm...." she hums unsuredly, fidgeting with her braid more and causing it to begin unravelling.  She glances back at the others, Xixi and his crystal blue eyes that glare at them, her mother and her crimson stare, and Vivi from her position behind Lucaria, "You'd have to ask them..." Kiki admits, "I'm not sure..."
"Then I will..." he said, taking his broad paw from about her and looking to them, his tail gently resting on Kiki's chest spike, as feelings of gratitude and love flowed through him and into her... He looked first to Vivi, seeming to converse with her silently for about 15 minutes, the female Lukraio crying more and more until finally she rushed forward and hugged her father tightly, whimpering and sobbing like a baby as she whispered, "Daddy... daddy..." Zarian placed his paw about her gently, petting her as he said, "I'm here now, my dear... I'm here now..." Then, as he hugged her a bit tighter, he finally turned to Xixi, now holding an expression that suggested the pain of his actions... "Hello... my son..." he said, in a slightly choked voice...
"Father..." Xixi mutters in acknowledgement, standing up straight to be at his full height.  His hair inherited from Zarian hangs about his shoulders, not looking as well groomed as Kiki's and seeming to be knotted in dreads.
"My how you've grown..." he said, hesitantly floating forward to be inches from his son's face, searching his eyes for the merest amount of understanding or love or forgiveness... "You are likely a strong warrior, aren't you...? A powerful member of your species... Both that you are bred from..." he said softly, lowering his tail submissivly...
The compliments coax a slight flicker of the emotions Zarian searched for before pride takes over, "Thank you, Father.  I've strived to do my heratige proud." he replies, frowning, "Despite not having your guidance in my training."
"And I hate myself for that..." he said, gently, his eyes pooling with emotions once again... "I hate that I wasn't here. Were it my choice, I never would have left. I would have taught you anything you wanted to know..." he extended his paw carfully... "But you are still my son, and the inheritence to all I can give you... I ask you... No. I beg you... Please forgive me..." tears snaked out of his eye as he sniffled softly, his paw trembling... "Please... Forgive me..."
The lukraio sighs, glancing down slightly as he seems to struggle with the feelings.  One one side he has his father, here before him and begging forgiveness, but on the other his mother who had kicked her chosen mate out of the cave for being with another female he said he loved more...
Zarian waited, feeling like he was a kit once more, and waiting for his father to either hand down forgivness or punishment. His body was tense and shaking badly, and tears wouldn't stop streaking from his eyes, which were steadily focused on his son...
"What about why you left?" Xixi asks at last, looking up at his father with shimmering teary eyes, "That female you loved so much..."
"I was forced to love her..." Zarian said, curling his paw back against his body, "The humans that had captured me forced me to mate her... And I admit, I once hated your mother... But then I respected her... and I saw you were being cared for well... And I found that I loved your mother just as much..." he bowed his head as his eyes dripped... "The things I said that night... I said them to hurt her... But the truth is... she was here first. She deserves my love even more then Abigail..."
"The humans that captured you forced you?  You mean the one that brought you here?" he asks, regaining an angry expression.  Not at Zarian, but at humans...
"Not him, no..." Zarian said, quickly, "He would never do that. In fact, he was quiet angry when he found out. That's why I'm traveling with him now."
Xixi growls softly, detecting the smell of smoke wafting through the air from the direction of where he knew the trainer was.  Humans and their habits... "So it wasn't your fault and you were stupid.  That's your excuse." he says, frowning slightly, "A stupid mistake cost me a childhood without a father..."
"Xixi, please..." Zarian said, trying not to sound too desperate... "I realize that it was a stupid mistake. But that's why I've come back... To beg forgiveness. I know I can never replace your childhood... But I can try to make up for it, can I not?"
"I guess." he admits, nodding to Zarian, "You did come back..."  He slowly offers a spiked paw to his father, a very slight smile playing at the corners of his serious frown.
"And I wish to be here once more." he said, taking his son's paw gently and squeezing it, not sure if his son would want a hug... "I will do all I can to heal the wounds time has wrought..." as he said this, he directed his soft eyes to Lucaria...
She glances down to avert his gaze, having heard everything he'd said to Xixi and knowing he'd meant it by reading his aura...
He gently floated around Xixi, closer to her as he didn't know what to say... what could he saay after all this time? he stared at her and wracked his brain, before he finally simply did the first thing that came to mind. He spread his arms and said in a near whisper... "My arms are still open to you, my love..."
Instantly the tears spring to her eyes, running through her sleek blue fur.  She remains silent, most likely to keep her voice from cracking due to her quivering jaw.  She makes no move to push him away, seeming like she would even allow him to approach her in her emotional state...
He seemed drawn to her, as the three younger pokemon watched from behind. His arms still spread, he carfully floated forward, his own face already tearstained as he said, "Our last matehood... It... It wasn't a real matehood. I... I want us to try again... Please..." he said, his body begining to shake once more. He was a mere one step away from her, his arms still opened. All he had to do was move forward another couple inches and close his arms, and they would share an embrace that they never had before...
Kiki watches on from behind her father, still bouncing excitedly in having her father home again as Lucaria keeps her arms folded stubbornly.  There was that pesky emotion again... Love...  Always sneaking up on her and then stabbing through her heart again and again.  Here this mewkrai accepted her with open arms despite all she'd done as his alpha...  She sighs softly, sounding more like a hiccough than anything as she lets her arms fall to her sides...
Vivi stood behind her brother, trembling just a bit as Zarian teared up once again and took the plunge. He moved forward and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her close to him as he sighed shakily, his crest pressing gently against her chest spike as he tried to show her that he did indeed love her... "I want... to start again..." he whispered softly...
"A new litter, Pe-... Zarian..." she murmurs, lifting her arms to return the hug.  Her paws feel so heavy, reluctant to show love and return such a simple act of affection.  She focuses hard on moving them, resting them against his back and pulling him in close.  And somehow... it feels different than last time... More real and genuine.  This time, she feels her trust well placed in a lover.  He'd come back for them, just as he'd said he would that night so long ago.  Her grip tightens, pulling him still closer to her chest as she lifts him from the ground slightly.
"It will all be okay..." Zarian said softly, a true sense of inner peace coming over him as he hugs her tightly, his eyes drying as he said it a bit louder and more confidently... "It will all be okay..."
