A redo of my most popular deviation to date: Waiting To Be Loved Again by NostalgicChills

Not that i don't like the original, but i always felt that it was too bright. Back then i was very reluctant to use really dark shades. So, i wanted to fix that :)

The design stayed the same; except for some small changes. I would have redesigned the whole picture, except i like it the way it is. Although i wish i could have added some other characters that were on the honorable mentions list. Oh well, so i guess this is technically a recolor, not a redo.

**For those who don't want to trace back to the original, there is a purpose behind this picture. The original description was this:

A small compilation featuring some of the most forgotten Disney animal films of all time.

The selection of characters was based around the simple; yet thought provoking question: When was the last time you consciously and willingly decided to sit down and watch one of these films from start to finish?
If the film was featured on TV and you decided to watch it, it doesn't count, it only counts if you really wanted to watch the movie, so you rented, bought or watched it from your own film collection.
I know some of you will be able to say that you watched some of these recently, but i also know that most of you would honestly say 'not for a very long time', if ever for some of you.

As for me, i own Lilo & Stitch, Brother Bear, The Emperor's New Groove, Oliver & Company, and The Fox & the Hound all on DVD. So i do see these films often, but i can imagine that most people don't.

I should also mention that the characters here don't represent themselves, but more so the films in which they came from.

But if there is still some confusion, i will go through each character and explain my reason for their placement in this deviation:

1. Stitch (Lilo & Stitch 2002)
Now this one i know will cause the most confusion. Because i know that Stitch is EVERYWHERE! But that is solely due to the anime show that Japan created for him simply called 'Stitch!' ever since Disney sold Stitch to Japan; he has been manufactured like crazy. But like i said earlier, he represents the film; not himself. The film 'Lilo & Stitch' these days has more or less been forgotten. The animated series has been cancelled, the sequels flopped, and Lilo has been rejected and replaced by some other anime chick. So yeah, technically i should have placed Lilo here instead of Stitch, but i can't draw human characters to save my life!

2. Kuzco (The Emperor's New Groove 2000)
Pretty self explanatory if you think about it. I loved this movie, and i still do. But this was a film that i can imagine wasn't supposed to be taken too seriously, kind of a 'joke' film or a parody of a well known tale. So it wasn't surprising that it pretty quickly lost its popularity. A lot of people from my generation don't really remember this movie. Disney tried to reprise it with a sequel and an animated TV series, but i don't think they did too well. Sorry Kuzco!

3. Kenai (Brother Bear 2003)
I really liked this movie, but much like 'The Emperor's New Groove' its popularity was pretty short lived. Which is a shame, because i think it deserves to be up there with the classics. I know a lot of you would disagree with me on that note, as i've recently found out that not many people actually like this film. Oh well, i still do. And I don't really know what happened to this movie, but before i knew it 'Brother Bear's' fame was gone and soon it was virtually unheard of. It did have a sequel sucked. As most Disney sequels do.

4. Copper (The Fox & The Hound 1981)
One of the many examples of a Disney film burdened by it's age. It was a beloved classic then, however now it's a forgotten one. Most of the newer generations have never seen it and don't seem to care. It did have a mid-quel, but i don't even want to acknowledge it's horrible existence (yes it's that bad) honestly it was the worst Disney sequel i have ever seen! And it flopped anyway, so no one cares.

5. Dumbo (Dumbo 1941)
The oldest of the lot. Now i know that the character is still quite memorable, and some scenes are too, like the controversial 'Pink Elephants On Parade' scene, that people seem to think is a reference to an acid trip. but come on... when was the last time you actually watched it all the way through? Think about it. For me at least, it's been a very looooong time.

6. Bagheera (The Jungle Book 1967)
No doubt your parents' generation would remember this film pretty well. But not ours, once again, it's age is most likely to blame. To be honest, i don't think i've ever watched this all the way through till the end.

7. Dodger (Oliver & Company 1988)
Probably one of the most forgotten Disney films of all time. This film had no sequel, no TV series, no commercial celebration upon re-release, very little merchandise, and get this; when i listed all the Disney films i could think of one day at school, everyone who saw the list mentioned that they had never heard of this movie. And for once, i don't think it's age is the reason. But for the life of me, i don't know what is.

8. Duchess (The Aristocats 1970)
Just as they did with Stitch, Disney sold the rights to Marie to Japan, and ever since then; she too has been manufactured to no end. You'll find her on T-Shirts, stickers, plushies and other items at many Asian novelty shops. Way to sell out again Disney. However; Duchess here represents the movie, and quite frankly, nobody watches this film anymore. Pretty much the only thing this movie is 'famous' for now is Marie and the song 'Everybody Wants To Be A Cat.'

So people please, for their sake and yours, watch at least one of these classic Disney movies today, and make them live again! Because NOTHING hurts more than being forgotten. Your inner child is calling, answer it!

*Here are some films that i think deserves an honorable mention, ones that should be on here; but aren't due to either lack of room or character drawing difficulty:
101 Dalmatians, Great Mouse Detective, The Rescuers, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Black Cauldron, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Pocahontas, The Sword In The Stone, Hercules, and Tarzan.*

All characters are (c) owned by Disney

Matthew 6:9-13

The Lords Prayer:

The Disciples asked Jesus how to pray,

and Jesus Christ:

said this is how you should pray!

Our Father in heaven, blessed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done, On earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread. And Forgive us, of our sins; as we forgive those who sinned Against us. Lead us not into temptation and Deliver us from the evil one, Amen!

I agree with you about The Hunchback of Notre Dame being a forgotten film. But dang, I love it so much!

Dumbo, I believe, nowhas regained a lot of popularity, since he’s now starring in a live action remake, but it’s still pretty sad that no one remembers the original movie.

I actually rank some of these movies HIGHER than the classics, simply because a lot of them are beautiful tales I always cried over and thoroughly enjoyed watching. I also happen to fucking LOVE Brother Bear 2, but seeing as most people (read: ignorant bandwagoners) don't even like the original, I'm not surprised it would be called "bad" although I think it was a wonderful sequel. I WILL agree that MOST Disney sequels fucking suck tho, they sadly end up being trash simply because they're poorly made cash grabs and don't even have a fraction of the effort put into the originals. Still, that said, I DO enjoy a few sequels, the aforementioned Brother Bear 2 being a definite one.

As long as people at Disney has a fixation of including Crude Humor, these guys will never be appreciated.

I remember watching six of the movies that these characters are from, and loved them dearly; dumbo, Aristocats, lilo and stitch, jungle book, emperors new groove, and brother bear. I actually did hear about Oliver and company, and the fox and the hound, but never really watched them. I also saw remember and loved Atlantis, 101 Dalmatians, Tarzan, great mouse detective, the rescuers, Hercules, sword in the stone, etc. I agree that these classic movies should be remembered and brought back into the light !

I used to own nearly half of these films of which you have mentioned whether they on DVD or Video Cassette if you're willing to look back far enough. However with constant moves from town to town my family unfortunately have managed to lose every last one of these films to time. Also I would've thought that another film to have added to the honorable mentions would've been The Brave Little Toaster but hey, it's your list not mine.

I love Brother Bear! It's one of my favorite Disney movies, and it's sad that now it's forgotten. :(  I haven't seen it in a while though because I don't really watch TV anymore, since I'm usually on Youtube. I do still listen to the music though, and now I have to go watch it again, bye
