I can imagine. This time around, Shinkai certainly didn’t feel

the need to lean on preconceptions tread by Ghibli. Rather, he was able to get to the core fundamentals of those standards but then redirect them to his own perspective.

Just watched Your Name and Weathering With You in preparation for the US release of Makoto Shinkai’s new movie Suzume. I’m impressed.

I saw Your name but not Weathering you. Your name was beautiful but I kinda liked Children who chase lost voice better. But in terms of graphism, Makoto Shinkai is definitely a master. I just love the way he works with light
