The amount of detail you put into the scales is fantastic. It looks like you took the time to give each individual scale on its head a light and shadow value. I have had a lot of experience working with fish scales, and the scale-overlay on his back and limbs looks shockingly realistic. You excellently captured how light would affect the unique shapes of the scales. This is one of the best examples of scalework I have ever seen, and I will definitely be coming back to this as a reference.
However, the fluid dripping out of the dragon's mouth seems less detailed in comparison, and the jagged light draw-lines on the shore stick out as looking out of place. The same could be said for the right wing, which seems to be considerably less detailed than the left wing.
That being said, the shading and detail you put into this piece is absolutely incredible. Awesome work.
holy crap where do I begin. The level of detail on this is amazing, the color palette you used is gorgeous, and the highlights are fantastic. The lighting is superb, definitely gives a moonlit night feel. Those scales are so believable it's scary. It's definitely original and I love the overall pose and anatomy.
The only things I can really point out is that I feel like the wing closest to the viewer could possibly use a little more detail, and the water dripping from the dragon's mouth seems a little rough and ragged, liquid would be a bit straighter but other than that this is friggin mindblowing.
I must not understand the hummingbird palette term, but if you're referring to the
bright colors I'm happy you like them I had a lot of fun with this piece for a simple little
speedpaint and love to use them for warmups and practice.
He's a type of ice dragon for a story between a friend and myself. Needs a bit more polishing but this sorta happened at an unconventional 5am XD I am glad you like it, the horns are ribbed so they have a off interlocking texture about them. Or at least that is what I was trying to convey. XD
I am certainly learning what I can do better it. I myself being my worst critic don't feel it's where I want it to be. But I am starting to get better at what I am doing or at least I hope to be. XD
