I am very impressed with the body paint that has gone into this, so many kudos! With my body paint photography, it looks like I've barely even dabbled in body painting compared to this amazing behemoth of a project that is so wonderfully and artfully carried out.

I'm not sure how I feel about the background. On the positive side, I like that it isn't distracting and I get that it alludes to the movie (i looked through the flickr pics). On the negative side, it is just kinda bland. It looks like you went in in post processing and dropped in a bkgd. However, this is coming from a person who likes to create sets and environments, so I might be biased.

I think there is a wonderful detail to wardrobe. Having not seen the movie since it came out, from what I can remember, this looks exactly like what the blue people wore. (can't remember what they were called).

Neytiri didn't have blue hair. I think this is one downside to the wardrobe. I say this only because it seems like you are obviously trying to replicate a character, and this is not true to the orig.

As a suggestion, not so much a critique, I would love to see some photoshopping done. I understand the point of this photo to point out that you didn't photoshop, and I certainly commend you on this. Having said that, and googling Neytiri, and coming back to your image, I want your eyes and forehead to be bigger, your body to be a bit more animal like. I think that photoshopping in this instance, done correctly, would add to the end product. Just a suggestion and something I would like to see done, not a critique.

And like everyone else has said, not very original, so I am not going to repeat.

Avatar has become a very common cosplay idea, so the originality of this loses points for that, but never the less, you pulled the illusion off beautifully, and yes, I thought it was Photoshopped. Ha. Vision achieved.

I have to say that this is something that would have a lot greater impact if I saw it in person or saw a video of it. The image is not very impactful. You could probably try for a more dynamic, action-filled pose. I also think a more colorful (but still blurred) background or an actual scene could drastically improve the piece.

I think the facial make-up is the most impressive piece of work in this image, but it is also greatly flawed. Her real ears look like they may be visible, but I am not sure about that. The noticeable flaw is where her hair line is. Her hair has been clearly painted blue and is sticking out, over and in front of the black hair. On the up side, I love the model. She is strikingly beautiful to me, and your make-up only accentuates her natural curves.

While not original, avatars are always eye-catching. The stripes and dots are beautiful, I really like the blending of the colours. I can't see any rough edges in this picture; good! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
I took off a star in technique for all that blue makeup in the hair. It looks sprayed on, so if you were to do that again, I would suggest tightly braiding the hair to the scalp first, and then applying the make up, and then sewing in extensions. Or at least going over the blue hair with black, or something!
I also would have liked to have seen a more contouring on the eyes and cheeks; Avatars tend to have very defined, sculpted features.
All in all, a very striking piece. Keep going! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
May I ask where you got the nose and ear prosthetics? :)

I was just curious how much body paint do you use to cover your entire body?
NitroShiro's avatar
I don't know how much but for entire body it took 10 hours

This goes to show that you don't need millions of dollars worth of CGI to make the Na'vi look lifelike.
